Ultra Sheer Zinc Finishing Powder

Why sheer zinc powder?  Well zinc is a lovely, wonderful ingredient- it's really nice to have on your skin.  Yes, it's also an active ingredient in a lot of sunscreens in fact, but we assure you that's merely a coincidence.

It adds a lovely, classic powdered finish to your skin, and does help to obscure all of those little things you'd rather hide.  You can also tint this with some of our foundation bases and use it as a very light coverage foundation.

This is 25% Z-cote extra sheer micronized zinc oxide with a particle size of .2 microns , and 25% micronized titanium dioxide with a median size of .2 microns.  They're both pretty sheer, but the particle size is actually considered very large in terms of very tiny things- they're still too big to be absorbed by your skin.   This is slightly whitening.

You get 1 tablespoon in a 30-gram jar. Samples are 1/4 teaspoon in a 5-gram jar.

Ingredients:  Mica and magnesium myrsistate, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide

We're not not not saying this will give you any sun protection.  There is no SPF number- it's not something that you can calculate without getting it tested because there are a lot of little things that can effect the rating, and it's not something you can figure out with a simple math problem.  This hasn't been formally tested and it won't be formally tested.  In no way are we suggesting that you should you switch from any other formally tested, FDA approved sun protection product in order to use this.  The only reason we're offering this is because zinc oxide is a wonderful ingredient, and it's a great finishing powder.

For those of you who are interested in a 100% natural broad spectrum sun screen please check out this article on Wikipedia . The FDA hasn't updated their regulations for sunscreens in decades and a lot of our knowledge about the sun has changed in that time.  It really pays to do your research, and be a smart consumer with sunscreens.

Perfect for my sensitive skin. I think it has improved my complexion as well! I like to put this on before my powder foundation.

ooooh where doReview by Bernadette B.
ooooh where do i start.... this product has become an absolute essential for me!!

i have been using it for a couple of years now to replace some of the ivory in my foundation mix. that way i find the foundation lasts longer on my skin, as i get less oily. also - and i'm not making any recommendations regarding SPF!! - i haven't had a sunburn on my face since i do that, not even on vacation with constant sun exposure. just sayin ;)

so obviously i am in love with the zinc powder for quite some time already, but the reason, why i decided to write a review for it now is a rash i developed from taking antibiotics. this has happened to me once before and i struggled with this rash on my chest for months :( so when it popped up again, i panicked, considering that my wedding is only 3 months from now!!

i tried calendula salve - no improvement. i tried the SN black willow aftershave (the rash looks a lot like razor bumps) - not much improvement. then i tried a zinc salve meant for nappy rash - oh gosh, that made it look even redder and angrier!! and then it dawned on me: zinc without any oily/moisturizing ingredients might do the trick! i put it on and my skin looked immediately calmer. i have done this the last 3 days before bedtime and the rash is almost gone!! WINNER!!!

Great finisher. IReview by Lisa L.
Great finisher. I have the perfecting powder and I think I like this even better. It keeps my face looking fresh and it does help calm it down when its irritated. It also has a conditioning effect and doesn't emphasize dryness as a lot of powder products do.

Amazing ! IReview by Nathalie N.
Amazing ! I was in desqpair, itching aroung my nose and on cheeks, I had some rednesses (this sensivity is due to heat and stomach problems), and I found this powder I had forgotten in my drawer... Amazing : on first application my skin was soothed. In a few days, redness was gone. I use it as a primer, and I am impressed with the result : my pores are erased. I used a famous brand "powder me sunscreen" but the result was a bit disappointing, cakey... with this powder, I am better protected thanks to zinc oxide and I look better... Once again, thank you Karen

The claim thatReview by Mona Tabita M.
The claim that this zinc powder is ultra sheer is absolutely true!

And after having used it a long time on my combination skin - after my skincare routine and before makeup aplication - I now can say in no uncertain terms that this sheer zink powder makes my makeup last longer and calms my skin down when having redness and breakouts on my face and jaw. ( I have Seborrhea Dermatitis that I was diagnosed with this summer)

I can actually dab this powder onto the breakouts and it makes them less painfull, and heal up faster.
Everythime I get a breakout I start to think that everytime I have gotten great results it must have been a coincidence?
But no, it actually never fails me!

So one thing is for certain, I will never be without this wonderfull powder from Silk Naturals again...

I love thisReview by Jene B.
I love this powder! I live in Southern California, so I require sunscreen most days of the year. However, when the weather is warm, I don't really enjoy applying sunscreen when I'm already feeling a bit sticky. This is the perfect solution! I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it. Thanks, Karen!

I use thisReview by Audris T.
I use this as a primer as I like the feel on it on my skin and as a buffer against the mineral foundation and other items. It doesn't irritate nor cause breakouts, is light and sheer enough and adheres very well to your skin's natural oils. On days when I'm just dashing out to run a few short errands, I have this on my face as well and it seems to work, no burn even in hot and sunny Singapore.
I'm already on my refill and I wish SN would have larger refills :) since this is used almost daily!

hello there, i recentlyReview by deniz B.
hello there,

i recently got this product, and it is fantastic! I use it as a primer . I have a eczema problem on my cheeks, when it is aggravated i have very red, dry, scratchy patches on the cheeks. and with zinc powder not only does it NOT irritate my skin but it actually helps. I will definitely buy again.
Also, i have to let you know that there had been a mistake in my order, and I received a little amount of product. When I wrote to SN, they immediately sent the extra amount, along with super cool freebies. Fantastic customer service!! I am looking forward to my next purchase already.

I like thisReview by Sandra K.
I like this product, even though it surprised me a bit. It leaves an almost 'tacky' feeling on your skin, if that's even possible for a powder, which means your foundation should adhere to it like crazy. It also covers quite a bit. Something similar to a medium coverage foundation, but feels somewhat heavier. Knowing zinc calms redness, itching, etc, I immediately put some on a little patch of eczema that developed under my wedding band last week. It's already healing up. I applied it only last night, so in my books, that's pretty damn fast.

I've tested this under my makeup today to see if it makes my foundation last any longer than it normally does. I've also used it over my foundation, around my nose area, to tone down some redness. My hope is that it's also going to slow down how long it takes for oiliness to show through and that it'll keep that area of my face looking less pinkish under my makeup for the day.

Like everyone elseReview by Tracey S.
Like everyone else who has reviewed it, I absolutely adore this product! I feel like I'm repeating the other ladies' views but really wanted to add my recommendation - it's very light weight, silky and sheer, feels wonderful on my skin, has helped to speed the healing of a couple of blemishes and calmed my melasma. Works the best of ANY product I have ever tried as an under mineral foundation primer to smooth my skin and prevent my skin looking crinkly (dehydrated), and a light dusting on top of foundation which is a smidge too deep in the winter helps lighten it up just enough, and really helps my face to look 'finished'.

I so shouldReview by Laurie G.
I so should have written this review eons ago. This is bar none my hg SN product. I use it every single day, as a primer under my MMU. I love how soft and silky it feels, and the way it makes my *life experience lines* almost disappear. I adore the fact that even though the site specifically doesn't give us a definitive SPF, so far, no facial sunburns while I'm wearing it!
I've tried almost all of Karen's powders and have had good success with them. However, when I tried the Zinc Powder I was hooked immediately. Please never discontinue this!

After reading it's description I decided to try it and I must say that it is an excellent finisher to my routine. It isn't real heavy, which I prefer and smooths out my skin nicely. I also like to wear it with just some tinted moisturizer.

This is an absolute multi-tasking wonder. This triples as a skin treatment, a red neutralizer, and a primer. I mix the yellow and green foundation boosters so it offers even more red neutralization. An absolute wonder product- it has a buttery soft, silky finish that makes a perfect canvas for your makeup!

Like a previous reviewer I purchased a sample of this on a whim, and yet I use this powder every day twice a day. I'll mix it with my powder primer, especially if my skin is irritated. I'll use it as a finishing powder, I'll use it at night with my night time powder treatment and I use it on days when I wear no makeup at all. It's soft, smooth and so finely milled it appears transparent on the skin. I'm glad I found it and it doesn't hurt that is has some sun protection.

This powder has so many uses. It makes a light, sheer topcoat and softens the face (visually and literally). I mix it with my foundation and/or Date Bait and it feels lovely on. It's a great primer before foundation. And, of course, it provides some SPF protection - though I use another sunscreen as well so I don't lobster-ize myself. Zinc powder is very soothing on angry skin - sunburn, melasma, or other irritation. For me, this is a must-have item.

I bought a sample of this on a whim and gave it a go for a couple of days instead of my regular finishing powder. I now use it daily and had to order a full size. It is amazing as a finishing powder, really softens up the whole look, and the bonus is that it does give me some extra sun protection. I spend a lot of time outdoors so I need all the help I can get!
