Hi AH -

There will be a recipe sheet in with the foundation kit, but I'm not sure it's updated yet.

For instance, I'm on the very pale side myself, and in original coverage, about 14 or 15 scoops of Ivory to 1 Ebony works, but in medium coverage foundation, it's more like 8 or 9 scoops of Ivory to 1 Ebony. The heavier the foundation, the more dark you'll need. I haven't got much sun this summer but I may have got a little, so that could be part of it, too, but the medium ivory base really is a bit thicker than the original - it's not cakey, but it does want a little more colour added.

Once you get it, you'll find it pretty easy to play with though - and if you get stuck, just yell! Or post a picture if you can.

Thanks for the info about the foundation, very helpful. I ordered the origional ebony kit. So hopefull I will get it right and not mess up. Do you have any suggestion of what colors would look good on a blue eyed brunette with fair-light skintone.
As far as eye, cheeks and lips. I'm a newbie to SN and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, AH

AH-
Color choices are a very personal thing so it might help me to know favorite colors in clothes and makeup in the past. Also, do you tend to like a more natural look, or a fun, bright look?

I am assuming you are pretty neutral in skintone. I will just put a few suggestions out there to get us started. For blue eyes I suggest Nekkid and Naughty eyeshadow with a Maybe Baby blush and a Breathless Gloss. This is a somewhat neutral look, but with a hint of color.

Thanks for the color suggestions, they sound great. I like all colors really and I'm not afraid to experiment. You're right my skintone is neutral. What color would make a great brow color for a med. brown brunette? Thanks for being so helpful.
Warm Regards, AH

AH-
I think specific brow products are in the works for the next product release. But if I had to pick for you from the current matte browns, I'd go with Mousse or eu-Taupe-ia. Mousse is a little darker, but in the line of darkest matte browns, it is third. Basalt is almost black, Truffle is next, then Mousse, followed by eu-Taupe-ia. Terra is about the same color depth as Mousse, but a little redder.

It sounds as though your coloring is similar to my DD (I just love blue eyes with dark hair!!). If I had to choose for her, I'd go with eu-Taupe-ia.

I will definetly look at both of those colors, I already have the eye, cheek and lip color you suggested in my shopping cart.
Thanks for all the great suggestions. Yes I think dark hair and blue eyes are nice also. And it does sound as if we have similar coloring. It's really nice to know that there are others that love makeup as much as me. Do you have lots of SN colors?
One more question, how long has SN been around? I just discovered them about a week ago. I have tried many other mineral lines and this one has really impressed me the most thus far.
Thanks once againg for the help, AH

Silk Naturals has been around since 2006. Karen started on e-bay, and opened her first website for SN in 2007. She started as just herself, and added her Production Manager early in 2007. The product line started with Perfecting Powder and has blossomed ever since. I started using the products about a year ago, and have not looked back! I was able to join the staff Spring of this year. Part of what I do is to answer color questions here and monitor the forum. It helps free up the email for CS issues, so they can get the proper attention. I have most of the products offered in order to answer questions and do swatches. I will say that I had most of what Karen offered before I joined the Staff. I am just a lucky fan!

There are plenty of Gals here that can answer as well as me, and I have to say they have taught me much. This is a great place to swap ideas!

Thanks for the info about SN. Does she still sell on e bay? I have ordered from a few people there and a few on line, but I was disappointed. So many mineral lines cut their product with cornstarch. And in the end you aren't getting a very good product. SN is different. I knew it from the moment I got my products and swiped them on the back of my hand. So beautiful and creamy. Looking forward to more of her beautiful products. and thank you for all your help.
Best Wishes, AH

No more ebay - that was becoming a full-time job in itself, and better to concentrate on the web site and new products - yes?

Yes...what Jen and Rhys said- I started making makeup because it seemed like it would be fun- more of a treat for myself/hobby than anything, but tried eBay on a whim, and it just kind of went from there. I stopped eBay over the winter- it was just too hard to be so spread out on 2 venues.

It wasn't supposed to be this big- it really wasn't even supposed to be a business, but we just keep having so much fun that we can't seem to stop!
