Eye Primer?

Re: Eye Primer?
I tried my eyeliner sealant mixed w/ a purple mineral shadow to line my eyes w/. I had a hard time figuring out how to get the product out of it's little container, first off-I tried to mix it in a separate little container w/ the shadow until I thought I had the color right, found it hard to use my usual liner brush to apply the mix as a liner, as it didn't want to flow right. Any suggestions, thoughts, etc. J.
Re: Eye Primer?
Were you using a skinny eye liner brush, or one that's like the Ultimate one? It may be that you used a little too much powder? Sometimes I put on a line of the sealer, and then put shadow on over it and that works pretty well too.

Re: Eye Primer?
(I copied some of this from the morphing eyeshadows thread)
For premixing, I just really almost 'ground' my flat brush into the Liner Sealer. Then I picked up a little Bewitched. Then I blended it in the lid of the Liner Sealer(and cleaned it afterward!) It drew a nice fine line and was not all that difficult, and really did not take long, either. Then this would need to be sealed with Perfecting Powder to make it last.
Using a similar flat brush, I also drew a fine line with the plain Liner Sealer and then with another liner brush layered plain Bewitched on the top. This would not really need to be sealed, because it has been done with the Eyeshadow.
To my eye, I feel the layered method gives a much better color payoff, probably because the micas are sitting on top rather than covered in Liner Sealer to dull them a bit. Also, the layered method uses very little product. Both work fine, but because of the color payoff and the amount of product used, I will definitley layer. I did not photo the results, but I certainly will if you need me to.
Just make sure you are using a lining brush with some body to it. I have used the Ultimate Eyeshadow Brush with good success. Do you have one that is similar? For the Cream Liner/Liner Sealer, you need one that is flat and a bit wide, because there is something there to push the medium along. The fine, straight ones are great for the powder over the top, but they lack the stiffness needed for the heavier texture of the cream liner.
For all over the eye area application, I just used my finger like I do with other primers and applied powders pretty much the same as always.

Re: Eye Primer?
Thanks Jen for your detailed experiments. I do have all those brushes so I'll keeping trying. I think I like the idea of applying the liner sealer first and color on top-so I'll try that next. I so want to like this product-do you know if Karen is coming out w/ gel shadows? J.
Re: Eye Primer?
I've thought about it, but eye formulas take a while....they're a little trickier than something like a lippie, or a blush.

Thanks, J.
Re: Eye Primer?
For future reference, in case you end up going somewhere with the eye primer, my favorite brand is by far ORIGINS for eye primer.
It lasts a long time and has a nice creamy texture and it really does help the makeup set. It is kind of pricey though.
I am currently using one from Target from a cosmetics line called No. 7. It only cost $5.99 but it really doesn't help the shadow stay on as well as I would like, or hold onto the color as well as the Origins primer.

Re: Eye Primer?
Zeebs-is that eye primer from the Boots cosmetics line at Target? J.
Re: Eye Primer?
I am not sure if it is from Boots. I don't think so but I know it was in the same aisle as the Boots products. It is a black ovoid compact with a clear window on top to show the product and it has gold lettering saying "No. 7" on it.
