Eye Primer?

Do you guys use an eye primer? I really don't know what I'm doing with eye colors, but shadows don't seem to last very long & I'm wondering if I need to put something other than or in addition to perfecting powder on my lids. I tried to do a forum search but it said that the word "primer" was too common to be searchable.

Do you try giving the shadows a spritz with a face mist, or just plain water? Not enough to get it wet, but just to dampen. I find it helps with colour pay off and the shadows last a lot longer. Otherwise, a dab of Monistat Powder-Gel as a primer does wonders. =D

Thank you! So, I have a silly question. Do you spray the shadows on the brush or after they're on your eye or before you put them on the brush? I did stop at CVS to pick up some of the Monistat Powder-Gel. The CVS generic brand was on clearance for $1.20 so I got 2.

i really like the "decrease" eye shadow base made by loreal. it's comparable to urban decay's primer potion and others, but costs less and you can find it at any drugstore. i've also heard of using a glycerin/water mix to apply shadows wet and to help them last a long time. you can find pure glycerin at any drugstore as well. mix 1 part glycerin to 3 parts water. i'm planning on trying this myself soon.

Or you could try the new mixing medium/liner sealant Karen's got up - it looks good, and castor oil is also Very Good for helping to thicken your lashes.

I'm interested. I usually dry line, but this one can be used on lids, too, and it may give some interesting foiling effects without the mess

Thank you! I'll have to try out the decrease base if foiling or using the powder-gel stuff doesn't work. I'll go look at the mixing medium now!

Packgal-do you know if the Decrease from L'Oreal is as drying as udpp? I can't wear udpp b/c it dries my lids out too much and enhancesthe looseness of the skin there-not a pretty picture, lol. Thanks, J.

I am right there with ya on the UDPP. I feel it is drying, too. I am hoping for a product from SN. The Clear Cream liner does work for a short time, but it is more designed to work for the Morphing shadows on a night out. It will last many hours, but not quite long enough for an all day eye. I think there is one in the works. I have not tried the DeCrease, though.

hi queenie--
having never tried UDPP, i can't say...i know i have heard that decrease goes on a little thicker than UDPP--that is, the UDPP starts out more liquid before it dries--but i'm not sure which ends up being drier. does that make sense? the decrease is still very easy to spread and i don't feel like it dries out my lids at all. and it's more affordable to try than UDPP.

i think xarata got a sample of the cream concealer karen's working on and she really likes it as an e/s base. maybe that would be something to try too? good luck
