How many scoops in 1 f/s Foundation bag?
How many scoops in 1 f/s Foundation bag?
Um... that's the question. Tried to search but the search facility disregarded the words "foundation" and "scoops" so I didn't get very far
How many scoops are in one full sized bag of Ivory foundation, please? Thanks.

Re: How many scoops in 1 f/s Foundation bag?
From another thread I used to mix foundation fast:
1 Refill bag of Ivory foundation = 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 96 tiny (standard SN) scoops (at 1/32 teaspoon per scoop)
Sorry, can't find the other thread, I just copied and pasted into an email to myself as a reminder

Re: How many scoops in 1 f/s Foundation bag?
Thanks a lot, egerandi!
I mixed a batch from scratch today and started with 2 scoops Buttery Gold. Threw in a whole bag of Medium Ivory and thought I'd have to start fine tuning from there. Usually I just stir it around and shake, but this time, I thoroughly mixed the ivory and colour. Surprisingly, it came out a slightly darker mix than I've been using, but it works better for me. I guess the earlier attempts gave the wrong mix ratio as there was little lumps of colour which had not mixed thoroughly. Glad it turned out to be such an easy and quick blend for me.

Oh yeah, I used to mess around with it until I found that thread, and then boom, foundation in under a minute! I also have some leftover heavy ivory just in case dumping the whole bag of refill would end up too dark. It was also suggested that we dump in some oil control stuff and/or glows if needed or wanted. Karen mentioned that Angel would be great for this, if you wanted yours to look a little dewy.
Re: How many scoops in 1 f/s Foundation bag?
Yes, I added three scoops of Pure Luxe's silica to the whole batch - that suits my skin and is more convenient for me mixed in rather than adding a layer separately. I got the idea from Blur, but Blur itself looked a little... I dunno, chalky maybe? Like when the tide goes out and leaves ripple prints in the sand, it left powder line marks over my 34-year old dehydration lines. Last time I mixed up foundation, I added some 'glow' which I mixed up from leftover samples and scraps of this and that and it worked really well. Amazingly (for me, it's amazing) I can use the same foundation mix for my angry red ex-acne scar marks and dabbed on with a fine brush, it doubles as an effective concealer. This foundation is so far above others in terms of quality, performance and comfort to wear.

egerandi-
Thank you for bringing back the "put in the mix whatever you want" idea again! I am still too non-commital to dump it all in one jar, but I did do a one application mix of my foundation and Date Bait in my swirly bowl before applying today. I quite liked it. I may try a splash of Tempt Tryst tomorrow! (Yes, I know I should have tried this ages ago!!!

I like the idea of making a HUGE batch. I do that for the basic foundation mix. Then I add whatever my face needs for the day in a swirly bowl, like Jen. Some days I've slept in too late and am a little pale and dull, so i add in date bait. other days I'm a little too pink, so I throw in tempt tryst. maybe others I just want to be more dewy, so I put pristine perfecting glow instead. I find the application is much better than just layering on the different elements.

Hi Faith!
I worked this out sometime back and posted it to the "Foundation Recipe" thread. Egerandi I'm going to be egoistic and take credit for that formula.
The original post is here: http://www.silknaturals.com/forum/viewt ... t=30#p4387
And here's the post replicated below (sorry if this is rather well.. strutty. But I was SO proud of me for working this out. ^_^):

I am an impatient person, and using that tiny scoop drives me maaaaaad. So for all who are just like me, here's the quick and dirty way to make lots of foundation at once. =D
1 Refill bag of Ivory foundation = 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 96 tiny (standard SN) scoops (at 1/32 teaspoon per scoop)
My ratio is 1(buttery gold):8(Ivory) = 12:96 = 12 scoops: 1 refill bag.
SO I grab the refill bag, dump the contents into a jar (I'd suggest an even bigger one than Karen's if you can get it), scoop in 12 scoops of buttery gold, put the lid on (no sifter) and bang and shake it about until it looks evenly amalgamated. Bang it on its base for awhile to settle the foundation, open it and pop the sifter on.
Now because butter gold is just a wee bit yellow for my olive toned skin, I toss in 2 -3 scoops of tinted oil control primer (because more oil control can only be a good thing) and because I like my foundation to be the slightest bit reflective, 2-3 scoops of tempt tryst (too shiny for me to use it on its own). Voila, my perfect foundation - and believe me, making it is really really fast.

You can also mix in a zip baggie bigger than the foundation pouch and then transfer out of it. It mixes pretty well just by mooshing the bag around. I am spoiled, I bought a small kitchen blender to mix mine (an off brand of the 'Magic Bullet'). I also mix foundation for my sister and MIL. Hopefully, I will be doing the same for some local friends soon.pinkpomelo wrote:Strut away! hahahah!
