Overwhelmed...
Overwhelmed...
This is just silly...I go onto the website and for some reason, I don't know where to start!
I look over everything, compare swatches, watch videos on SN and still, I leave the site without ordering a thing.
I'm a bit overwhelmed...any advice?
Thanks!

Re: Overwhelmed...
that's not silly at all!! everytime karen releases a new collection, i feel very similar.
i learned to cope with it by making good use of the wishlist function. if i'm not shopping for anything specific, i go through the products category by category. if something looks interesting, i open it in a new tab. once i went through an entire category - let's say eyeshadows - i work my way through all the tabs with eyeshadow colours, checking out swatches, reading the description and reviews etc. sometimes i will google the colour to see if anyone posted pictures of themselves wearing the product. everything that still looks interesting after that lands on my wishlist. then comes the next category and so on.
if at some point the list gets too long and chaotic, i send it to myself, which gives me a much better overview, since it's then sorted alphabetically. the wishlist email contains links to the individual products, which means i basically play the same game as before - opening each link in a new tab. i then delete all products from the actual wishlist and only put things back on it that make it through the second round. the third round is going through the (usually significantly reduced) wishlist once more and moving the things i really really really want into the shopping cart.
i hope my description makes sense

Re: Overwhelmed...
What types of products/colors do you generally like? What is your coloring? I have received tons of helpful suggestions on this forum! I'm sure you will get suggestions and a good starting point from some of the people here if you list a little info about yourself. They are great products!
Re: Overwhelmed...
I'm fair, dark blonde, blue eyes
I thinkI have more of a yellow undertone. Oily skin, big pores - I'm in my 40's.
I tend to wear eyeshadows that are brown, cream, light pink - more neutral/natural colors.
Blushes - Rose, bronze, pink (Peaches don't look good on me.)
Lip colors...mauve, burgundy....or pale pink in glosses
I did place an order...threw caution to the wind!
1 x Perfecting Powder- Sheer & Gorgeous Finishing Powder (PPPerfectingPowder) = $0.75
Size Sample
1 x Captivate- Deep Plum Shimmer ALG (LGcaptivate) = $2.75
1 x Desert Plum vegan blush (vbDesertMauve) = $1.25
Size Sample
1 x Abstract- light golden pink/plum vegan blush (blAbstract) = $1.25
Size Sample
Thanks everyone!!

Re: Overwhelmed...
It can be overwhelming....it's a lot of colors. I've been turning this over in my head quite a bit lately because it is just a lot of stuff!
Anyone have any ideas on how to make it less overwhelming? We have the attributes so you can sort through the colors, but somehow it needs to be a little easier still, and I haven't figured it out.

Re: Overwhelmed...
It would probably be a ton of work, but I think comprehensive swatches within color groups would be so helpful. The tricky part is they would have to be updated with each new collection to stay helpful. Sometimes colors sound really similar based on descriptions, but if they weren't released in the same collection, they aren't swatched together for comparison in the current format.
Beftefur-I don't have the same coloring as you do, so can't be too helpful with recs. But if you like creams/pinks for eyeshadows, I whole-heartedly recommend Cutie Pie! It's a cream base with the slightest pink sheen that doesn't come across as pink eyeshadow, but is just sort of eye brightening. Sweet Nothing is a soft mauve lip gloss, and Embrace is a nice blush in that same range.

Re: Overwhelmed...
Thanks for the color/name choices! They sound up my alley, I'll check them out.
Re: Overwhelmed...
Suggested it in another thread, but I will mention it again here... I think kits could help get people started. Eyeshadow kits for brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes and gray eyes. Maybe some lippie assortments in the different color families for warm, neutral and cool skin tones.karen wrote:It can be overwhelming....it's a lot of colors. Updated swatches grouped by color and by warm, cool and neutral would be a real help, especially if care could be taken with lighting and exposure so they come out as accurate and consistent as possible. There are some lippie swatches that are overexposed and "all orange" or "all magenta", which probably hurt your sales a bit.
If you had individual pictures of each color, it would be as simple as grouping the photos into swatch collections by color and tone, like cool pinks, warm pinks, neutral pinks, or cool browns, warm browns, shimmer browns, matte browns, etc...
Taking the pictures would be a lot of work initially, but then with each new color you come up with you could easily add it to your swatch collections, and easily remove discontinued colors from the same.
Hope this helps!
Re: Overwhelmed...
I love shiny's idea! Having a swatch system where you can delete discontinued colors would really help. So many colors in your swatches are discontinued. I also find that most of the swatches are not true to color once I receive them in the mail and see them in person. Fortunately, I have loved almost everything
