Pink eyeshadow

Post by Sal F. » Tue May 01, 2012 6:02 pm

I was playing with Tart and Sonic last night and I found just the colour I want for a shadow. Approx 1 Tart to 4 Sonic. Gentle pink with some copper pinky gold sheen, no hints of blue or grey (which look awful on me).

Then I remembered the safety cautions, and checked up. I couldn't see which dye is used for Tart- was so hoping it was the Red#40.

If Tart doesn't use any dye other than Red#40 then I'm set. Otherwise, is there an existing colour that matches? Or maybe could be made?

To give context...
I'm about set to buy Phantom, Princess, Restless and Nekkid. I don't know enough colour theory to understand why greys and blues look so wrong on my skin, so my approach has been to get a whole bunch of colours I like and learn from my errors...I didn't think pink would be for me at all till I got the beach bum trio, so there you go. I was surprised at how colours like Aztec showed bluish on my skin, even Quartzite shadow and XXX nude lipstick look a bit grayish.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

We actually currently don't formulate eye colors with any dyes. We did long ago, but decided to err on the side of overcautious when it comes to eyes.

I recommend that you don't use your mix on your eyes, too. Red dyes are not generally approved for eye use (except for 40 and Tart Blush does not use 40).

Phantom kind of sounds like what you would have ended up with....a light pink with a golden sheen. I recommend it.....in fact, I am wearing it right now!

Thank you for the information, I'll toss the small test batch I made.

Back to the wish list then. I like matte colours as well, and (before remembering the cautions) I really liked the shades of Petal and Tart on my lids. So can I please request that matte shades similar to those blushes be made in an eye safe formula? They are sooooo pretty.

And I'm going to get Phantom- right now! Thanks again!

I love playing mad scientist too! Have you tried any of these colors for mixing?

Wow! No, I'm a new fan of SN, and am just setting up my kit. Will be getting Princess. Pink Lemonade looks nice. I can't seem to carry off darker shades - I'm a latecomer to makeup, and learning a lot quickly. Having fun with it too!
Thanks for the swatch.

Well, welcome aboard! Madison is great for blending into a smokey eye look. Princess is cute and girly and great for beautiful "natural" looks. I haven't tried the others yet. Ooh, check out Cupcake too! It's a gorgeous, make you feel pretty when you're depressed kind of color.
