Tinting Silk Powder?

Post by JennaR » Sun Mar 18, 2012 2:42 pm

Years (and years) ago, Everyday Minerals had a product called Tinted SIlk Dust. It was my favorite thing ever, and then they discontinued it. I loved it for no makeup days. I'm SO glad to see that SN has a silk powder, but it's white. I don't remember if there was anything else in the Silk Dust besides added color. Does anyone tint their silk powder themselves? If so, whats your ratio (and how does it compare to your foundation ratio)? If you use silk powder and don't tint it, do you find that it looks a little chalky?

You can definitely use the tinted bases to tint the Silk Powder. Just err on the side of too light as there is not much coverage in silk powder.

I can't speak for the silk powder but I use the Ultimate Luxury Treatment Powder without tinting and it doesn't look chalky at all, just provides a nice softening effect. My favorite thing for no makeup days is actually Date Bait. I know a lot of ladies use half and half ratio Date Bait mixed with their favorite sheer or white powders instead of foundation. You could always order a small sample of each (and maybe the Zinc powder too?) and try them out.

Thanks! I'll try samples of all 3, and wait to start tinting and mixing until I figure out my foundation. :)
