A question for fellow SN lippie addicts

Post by Oxana124 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:47 pm

So I was just wondering what people would think of this. I know there are currently a ton of lippies that SN carries, more than any other company I know. And I love that about them, because I am addicted those those lippies!
But I know it must be overwhelming with such a vast amount of products for SN to keep releasing more colors while still keeping the old ones.
So I was thinking, and I am speaking just for myself, that I would love more lippies, even if that means discontinuing some of the current not so hot selling colors. If it was announced ahead of time, I could always stock up if any of those are staples, and keep the backups in the fridge, they would last me a few years easily, and by the time I finally ran out, I'm sure I would find another lippie to be in love with instead.
But I know anytime there is ever talk of discontinuing anything it makes people upset.
So I was just wondering if I am in the minority, or if others also would not mind some of the colors being discontinued to make room for more.

I've actually wondered the same thing. . . how hard it must be to keep up with everything!

I would totally understand and not be upset. . . I could stockpile favorites if they were discontinued.

It will make some space for new fabulous lippies, so why not?
I just wish to have some time (a month, maybe more) so I can order some of my favourite lippies, if they are discontinued.

I can't agree more. :) I LOVE their classics so much (speaking of Darling, Caramel, and Aria) but would love to see new colors emerge.

I had the same thought the other day when Karen addressed the issue of deciding not to dupe colours in multiple formulas.

Much of the joy of minerals is in the thrill of collecting new things. With the good grace of sufficient warning time to stash favourites, I think that the news of discontinuations would be received well and wouldn't cause the angst experienced when other brands made unannounced changes. Indie brands have loyal followers who value healthy and balanced communication!

As customers, we can't have everything our own way - and I wonder if sometimes the level of gracious consultation leads a few to think that they can  ;) - but knowing a brand respects its customers enough to let them know what's happening makes us feel welcomed and valued. No brand I know of treats their customers as well as SN does, so yes, I suspect that any possible changes would be considered soberly and acknowledged warmly.

Well said. I wouldn't mind in the least if it allowed Karen more creative freedom and made her life a little easier. A happy Karen means happy Karen fans. Presuming, of course, it didn't open the door for even more requests of "Can we have X, Y, and Z in this formula please?" I imagine there would be a few lippies I'd be sad to see go but if saying good bye to old friends means making new ones, it sounds good to me. :)

I'd be interested in knowing, say, the top 10-20 bestselling lippies and the bottom selling 10-20 lippies. The forum is a pretty small sample size but there are definitely some lippies that are more consistently mentioned here than others. But I'm nosy. I'd love to know what the most popular/least popular lippies are on average.

I completely agree with tardis. I was thinking of the same thing when I first replied to the thread. I will still hate to see the 3 that I mentioned (Caramel, Darling, Aria) are gone. Maybe Azalea and Combustion, too (I believe many will agree). We can have a poll of top 10-20 lippies to keep and lose some others to make room for the new one. I'm also a believer that a happy Karen is happy SN fans.

I completely agree with everyone's thoughts. Although it could be kind of fun say maybe once a year to have a vote and have an old favorite or two come back for a limited time. I always enjoy the build up to the colors for a cure and seeing which GWPs are going to be rereleased.

I know this thread is specific to lippies, but I imagine some of the shadows could probably be retired as well to make room for new ones. I have a few absolute favorites that are in constant use and they are still over half full after a year and a half of use.

Ooh, I like that idea! Like a limited time Blast from the Past promotion where Karen brings a few lippies out of the vault at a higher price point with some of the proceeds going to charity. Great thought.

That's a great idea about the re-issue of discontinued colors, a few times a year for a limited time, so people can stock up :)
