I need some expert advice please.
I am loving all of the products (I have gone a bit crazy; perhaps we need to start a 12 step program for SN addicts like me!) but makeup is fun again.
I need some help with eyeshadows. I am 54, and my eyelids show it. They are a bit crepey, and some shadows seem to accentuate this. I am also a bit confused as to the difference between the types (ie eyelight, pearl, shimmer, suede, etc) of shadows. I thought these designations were directly tied to the level of shimmer, but I see there are eyelights that are a 4 on the shimmer scale? Can someone explain to me the difference between an eyelight, pearl, shimmer, suede etc.
I am a warm gold, dark brown eyes, medium brown hair. Suggestions for some shadows that will be office appropriate, and will help with the crepey eyelid thing?
Thank you ladies.
Help With Eyeshadow
Re: Help With Eyeshadow
I would try the Eyelights and the Mattes for sure. A Suede might be a good in between.
The Eyelights are kind of the answer to how to have a shimmery shadow without looking crepey. The mattes are just great for SFW color. And then the Suedes are kind of somewhere in between a matte and a shimmer. Shimmers tend to be a little too eyecatching, and sometimes the Pearls draw more attention to the texture of the skin than other shadows because of the higher level of coverage.
I do also know that putting foundation over a shimmery shadow works for taming the simmer and making the look more SFW.
I will be back later with some color suggestions. Hopefully, others will chime in, too!
SFW= safe for work.....

Re: Help With Eyeshadow
I really could use some help and suggestions. A number of shadows that I ordered are not good for me because of the level of shimmer. Jen has set me straight on that - I should stick with matte, demi-matte, suedes and eyelights because of my mature eyelids. Lesson learned. When I go through the colors I have ordered to try to put together some combinations, I see that I have ordered many that are similar in shade and tone, and, for the most part, I do not have much contrast of color.
So far, I have:
Graceful, dainty, touring, hairpin, highbeam, phantom, model, trouble, madison, olive you, buttercup, first kiss, bassalt, prowl, aubergine, velvet, taffeta, satin, idolize, burnout, goblin, paranormal (for use as a liner), grassroots green (for my daughter) and fire.
I need some help putting together some combinations that will pop a little, without being over the top. I have not worn eye make up in years because of sensitivities, and I am really out of practice.
As I said, I am 54, medium brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a WG, 1 to about 6 or 7.
Any help or suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated!
