reviews on my new haul!!!

Post by ladycattat » Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:04 pm

Well, I totally took advantage of the 50cent e/s sample sale, and bought quite a lot of other stuff for me ad my Muz.(Oh, she just got back from her vacation, which included a week on an Alaskan cruise, and she just RAVED about how much she loved her SN foundation that I had mixed up for her!
Part of my order was some Perfecting Powder and Date Bait for her. She's not quite sure on the concept yet, but I'll help her.
I ordered a bunch of the original formula Ivory Foundation, Perfecting Powder and the new wand gloss in Copper Rose. As a lot of you know, I have a little trouble with the kisser slickers. I want to love them, but they just aren't quite what I am looking for in a lippie. The Copper Rose lippie is the first SN gloss that I can honestly say that I love! It shows up on my pale pink lips as a medium toned coral shimmer. I happen to wear a lot of coral and love it, especially inthe summer with turquoises and gold shades. It is a little shiny, but not much. It stayed on me about 3 hours, but I wasn't eating at the time, just drinking water. it felt nice, not grainy. It didn't feel super moisturizing, but I wouldn't use it for a balm. The tube is very compact and portable. it has really good pigmentation; I would not consider this a sheer gloss at all. I'd say a 8.5 out of 10, and that is just because it wasn't quite the color I expected, even though I do like the color.

Karen, thank you, thank you, thank you! for the e/s samples! I got 21 of them, and so far have roadtested 6 of them, 2 at a time. I didn't swatch them since I didn't wanna waste any. It really funny how you order smples of some colors just to *confirm to yourself that certain colors YOU JUST KNOW* will look good on you *, then it turns out they really don't; then there are colors you order due to raves, and it turns out you LOVE those colors.....

OK
Thursday: A Hell of a Day!
Foiled Fire from lashline to brow
light smear of Black Cherry lashline to crease
Brimstone from lashline to crease
Black Cherry mixed w/ Plush and outer 3/4 of eyes lined
All blended
2 thumbs up!!!
I felt sooo pretty all day long!

Saturday: Foiled by Fairies!
Foiled Sprite lashline to brow
Light smear of Ft. Knox lashline to crease
Pixied foiled lashline to crease
Jordana sea green pencil t0o line
2 thumbs down!
didn't like the look at all, wrong color choices. Felt way too pastel and teenager-y for me. Nice thing about samples is that you get a couple difference chances.

Sunday: Greased Lightning!
Sandy foiled lashline to brow.
Envy smeared lightly lashline to crease
Danny foiled lashline to crease
On the fence about them. I like them both, but I think that I have other SN colors that are pretty similar and will give the same effect. Will try again

Oh, and since I have noticed that powders with a distinct yellow cast tend to flatter me, I actually added a little bit of *Sleep in a jar* to my Perfecting Powder to give it a little yellow shade. Worked great; flawless finish! In case you were wondering why I didn't use the gold perfecting powder, it's a little too sparkly for my taste!
I also ordered some samples of blushes that I haven't yet tried:
Cocoaberry: I'm sure it would be pretty if it showed up on me....boo hoo
Forbidden: Nice red flushy shade....kind of like EM Girl's day w/o the gold shimmer
Lovelace: nice bright coral, looks nice with my new lippie.

So, that's it,
when I have more e/s to review I'll be back!

Wow that's such a detail review!
I think i will try your Greased Lightening look tomorrow. Though it might be a bit bold for uni!
Thats a good idea about using sleep in the jar in your perfecting powder, i've been making mine half Tympt Tryst half original for the same reason! i want a bit of yellow, but straight Tempt Tryst is way to dark for me. i might try Sleep in a jar next time.
