Do we have dupes for Nars lippies here? They are gorgeous indeed, but ever since I wear SN I find conventional packaging of most lipsticks are bulky and fragile. I guess I'm such a passionate person about lippies, because I've broken many of my lipsticks when they're not even half finished yet. And I always make sure I don't twist the barrel too much. Not to mention that for the price of one Nars I can get 5 SNs. Plus SN's formula is a dream, tubes are slim and space-savvy, and I barely need a mirror to apply. At the very least, I can do with just the reflective screen protector of my iPhone.
Nars Barbarella: Maiden's too pink. Darling is a no-show on me, just like I'm wearing clear lipbalm. Not on my sister though. She's fairer. It's breathtakingly gorgeous on her. Perfect pink-peach. But perhaps too pink for Barbarella?
Nars Dolce Vita: ??? It says dusty-rose, resembles lips natural blush.
Nars Casablanca: satin finish coral. Temptation???
Anyone want to add anything?
Dupes for NARS lippies
Re: Dupes for NARS lippies
It's not the same type, but it sounds like Ambrosia is really close to Barbarella. You could even layer it over Maiden to get the color you want.
For Dolce Vita, I recommend St. Tropez. My lips are pigmented in a shade of dusty rose and that's a perfect MLBB. You could also try layering it over Menage, but it's perfect in itself too.
Verve and Temptation work as corals, but when I tried Temptation, it turned bright orange pink on me (not in a good way). It depends on your lips too, and it works for many.
The above is just comparison based on the SN lippies I own/tried as I don't have the Nars ones, just judging by photo and description.

Re: Dupes for NARS lippies
Hmmm. I think Ambrosia is 'too milky' for a Barbarella. How about Prelude or Mimosa or Peachy Keen? I don't have any of them.
I also don't think St. Tropez is the dupe for Dolce Vita. Dolce Vita is sheer rosy. It can be easily build up into a red by layering it. Bitten, perhaps? Aria seems like it but Aria's too pink.

I don't have Prelude, but Mimosa is very sheer color and has lots of pink - even further what you need than Maiden. Peachy Keen is a red peach.frckls wrote:Hmmm. I think Ambrosia is 'too milky' for a Barbarella. How about Prelude or Mimosa or Peachy Keen? I don't have any of them.

Bitten is sheer blood red

I don't have Aria, can't comment on that.
Re: Dupes for NARS lippies
Mimosa is pink, really?? I thought it's a dead on peach. What could be an exact sheer peach??
If Bitten is not quite it, how about Cerise?? Or Genuine??
Well, I do have St. Tropez and on me it's nude pink but leaning towards mauve IMO. A bit too purple for my taste. Well, many pink nudes and nudes in SN lends towards mauve or dusty pink on me and my sisters (i.e. Negligee, Birthday Suit, St. Tropez, Mirage). You can categorize St. tropez as dusty pink, but it's definitely not "dusty rose".
I hope somebody else can chime in and help us with the discussion haha.

Re: Dupes for NARS lippies
Ya, at this point we would benefit of someone actually having tried the colors you're looking to dupe. It's difficult to judge by photo swatches especially when the compared SN colors will show up differently on our lips anyway. Good luck in the hunt!frckls wrote: I hope somebody else can chime in and help us with the discussion haha.
