colors for a grey-blue-eyed and dark-haired girl
Hi, since you seem so helpful here, I hope that you will be able to help me to choose some colors, for eyeshadows mainly: I've seen on another thread that some would advise idolize, taupetastic or lurid. But I've just begun eyeshadows, and, though I know grey looks great on me, I'm also looking for something more neutral: do blue-grey eyed girls have some clues? I would have thought of cashmere, quatzite?
Another question, I have not found the answer yet, however I know it might be here: are Kiss'nTell and Delight well pigmented? In spite of my fair skin, my lips are not very pale, so I need something well pigmented. And do you think that those colours are alright, by the way? And I'd like nothing too showy either for the lips!
Thank you for reading, and apologies for a foreigner's English!

Hi,Nina!
Your English is fine! No worries!
Look at the post New To Silk Naturals ~ What Should I Order? Ethereal Jane has somewhat of your coloring so there should be good clues there! All of the colors you mentioned are wonderful for different looks. Can't advise you on the lip shades as I don't have either one of them, *gasp*!
My eyes are decidedly green & my dark hair now has a *lot* of silver in it, so I'm no help
but I wanted to say hello!

Re: colors for a grey-blue-eyed and dark-haired girl
Hi Nina! I'm still working through samples I ordered (only got them yesterday) but the first combination I tried out was "wink wink" and "nudge nudge" together, and I thought it looked great! I'll let you know how my other samples work out, but I've gotten great suggestions in the thread that mikie mentioned. I've even put them all in a little spreadsheet thingy to try and organize my orders and make sure I don't order duplicates in the future, haha.
Re: colors for a grey-blue-eyed and dark-haired girl
My eyes change color but most of the time i'm a grey-eyed brunette (as seen in avatar to the right). Quartzite is my favorite eyeshadow. It makes a gorgeous wash (lash to brow) or pairs well with just about anything. Bittersweet is my fav. liner. I personally, have to be very careful with blue shadows because of the veins at my temples being the same color as the shadows- i generally prefer green. Sunlit bark and dolce are also nice smokey colors with great balance and not over the top.
For lipsticks...kiss n' tell and delight are both demiglosses so they're pigmented enough. Kiss n' tell is barbie pink. pink pink. delight is a very pretty nudey shade
my lips are fairly pigmented and i love all the lippies so i have trouble choosing. lol.
Your coloring would help narrow it down. If your hair is very dark I have this inkling that you should try purples...

Re: colors for a grey-blue-eyed and dark-haired girl
Hi, thanks for the hints, now my wish list gets a little fat! And I'm not really sure of what I will really like on me... Surely I "enjoy being a girl " and having "problems "of that kind!
Anyway you're adorable: thanks! Minkie for answering me so as not to let my question alone, and indeed a good idea: Jane has pretty blue eyes and a fair skin and the colors which work for her might work for me, even if my eyes are a bit darker, so Jane, I'm really interested in what you'll think of your samples (by the way, I'm disappointed to have missed the samples!), and Komtora I'm glad you approve quartzite! For the liner, I usually take a pencil, it's easier, but you say that you use those colours for a smokey look: are they sheer enough (lol, maybe in fact any colour can be sheer, I just don't know how to do it!) for a fair skin? And since you made me a caring long answer, I have questions again: have I quoted a blue shadow, idolize maybe? And for the lipstick, I liked the idea of a pink pink, if it's not dark: the colour of blush which looks best on me is a pink really pink, so I thought it would suit with it, but a very pale lilac highlighter suits me well, so why not a purple lipstick? But is there any except mesmerizing, which seems a bit blue: indeed my hair seems darker than yours, but have you tried it or another one which might give that effect?

Rhonda is a lilac-toned lippie - it's really nice. Divine is supposed to be sort of a lilac colour or pinky beige, but it looks grey on me, so it's a hard one to call. Infatuation is a mauvey colour that goes well with plummy stuff. I like Infatuation and Rhonda, not so wild about Divine, but that's hard to tell because it's so colouring dependant - they all are, but that one in particular really is. XOXO might be worth a try. I don't think it's shown up the same colour on any two of us, but we all love it.
Beloved is a great one for medium dark pinky-gold. and Tickled Pink is a great pink, as is Swept Away - with Swept Away being the most toned-down of the lot, but all of them are wearable for everyday. The only worry I have about Kiss n Tell is that it's really Barbie pink without any shimmer. Pure PINK. It's great fun to have, but it may or may not be what you want for every day. Grace works on a lot of girls, but it's too warm on me. Or go with Kiss n Tell - you'll probably want to wear it sometimes, but maybe not all the time. Capricious is another fun colour.
Idolize isn't really a blue shadow. It's more on the grey/light taupe side with blue, purple, and gold tones as the light hits it, and it's drop-dead gorgeous topped off with Whisper. Wave and Haze might make a nice bluey combination that isn't overbearing, and Poly is a surprisingly wearable colour, too.

The blues I just think play well off of gray- you might try sapphire as a liner. Ocean could be a good one for you.Nina wrote:have I quoted a blue shadow, idolize maybe? Lipsticks- I really do have an addiction when it comes to the lippies, i can wear them all so it's hard to rec. just a few. My favs are actually the subtle gold blush and berry crush though i also like XOXO a lot. If you like pink pink- ashley, damsel, and pout are all great pinks. Kiss n' tell is pretty too. Rhonda is actually a very pretty lavender lippie especially great on pale girls.
Purples- by purples, I was actually talking about shadows. I encourage you to play with grey and purple. Maybe Breathe, Lavender, and Haze lined with Bewitched. If you wanted a purple lippie then rhonda and mesmerize would be your best bet.

Re: colors for a grey-blue-eyed and dark-haired girl
Does anyone know if, on well pigmented (red brown plum, I don't know what color exactly) lips, there is a difference between a clear one and rhapsody,
and between divine and kiss'n tell, and maybe between those last two ones and the ones I already own (Damsel, Aria and Gold blush)?
Thanks!!

my lips are pretty dark and there are shades that more subtly change my lips than others. In general, if it's colored rather than clear it will make a difference albeit sometimes a small one. I imagine that Rhapsody is probably very close to a YLBB color. The advantage of color over clear is that even a subtle color can make a more even canvas. i have both. i use clear as a lipbalm or as a base for the lipsticks.
divine and kiss n' tell are demiglosses so they are a little more on the opaque side and you should see a difference. divine tends to tone lips down and kiss n tell is oh boy barbie pink. Your lips being so dark, I imagine it will do one of things- make a completely unique color on your lips or create a very bright pink on your lips. it will be more opaque than damsel, aria, and gold blush. it is a true barbie pink where the others are not.
i am a lippie ho' though. i can't say no to any of them...lol
