Serum Application Question

Post by RGup » Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:02 am

This may seem like a kind of "duh" question, but how do you apply serums (in my case, super serum)? Do you just drop it on the face and rub it in, or do you put a couple drops on the palm and rub it in, or do you put it on the fingertip and rub it in? I honestly have no clue, and was wondering if someone could clarify this for me! Also, do you apply the serum on a dry face, or a wet face?

Thanks so much for any replies!

i put a pea sized amount on the pad of my index finger and run my other hand under water, rub my hands together and apply. I try to apply to a wet face, but that's also the reason why i get my hands wet. If your face isn't wet or you don't get it wet while apply, there is potential for the skin to grow taut which is how i've gotten a couple or rashes from serums, so i personally recommend a wet face. The serums are basically HA serums which are designed to help your skin hold in moisture, so it doesn't hurt to add a little to the surface before sealing it in with a moisturizer.

I use Super Serum at night only; after I've washed my face, instead of a toner I run a wet cotton pad over it to add a little moisture (and remove any final traces of cleanser). I then apply a couple drops of serum between my palms, rub together then spread it evenly over my face.

Oh, I've been using the Green Tea and Aloe Serum straight up. Is that bad?

if your skin is happy, don't worry about it. Mine is just too sensitive to apply them straight on dry skin.

I just apply one squirt of super serum to my face as I would moisturizer. I don't wet my skin or anything.

I use my treatment serums straight up, but usually shortly after a toner like Pore Refining.....two pumps and massage all over my face (careful around the eyes).

Sometimes with the Oatmeal or Rose serums, I blend them with an oil in my hands....two pumps serum and one or so of the oil (the oil of the hour is argan, but I have used emu, camelia, avocado, and raspberry in the past.) Massage all over face.
