I was hoping someone could help me with the order of my skincare items, specifically aha and bha. I would like to use them at the same time. Ididthis tonight but I wasn't sure if I did it in the right order. I used the bha first and waited a few minutes to do the aha. No problem there. Is that the right way to do it? I was also hoping someone could help me with the general order of al my skincare items for both morning and night. This is what I own:
pore refining toner
bha toner
aha toner
chamomile hydrosol
super serum
vitamin c peptide (sample size)
green tea serum (sample size)
oil control serum
hemp moisturizer
holy crow
various masks
microdermabrasion gel
So what order should I use these and when should I do a mask or scrub? Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions.
The Order of Things (bha and aha)
Re: The Order of Things (bha and aha)
I don't want to just tell you where to use what, because it makes more sense for you to understand the best place to put a certain kind of product. You will not always have the same stuff in your arsenal. I know I rotate through things depending on the time of the year and how dry/breakout prone my skin is acting. It is kind of an evolving process.
The general order is:
1. Cleanse.....Just what it says.....I did not really see a cleanser on your list (and if you have one that is not ours and it works...continue to use it. Just make sure if you are using Super Serum that your cleanser does not contain any acids like AHA or salycilic acid.) I would put the physical exfoliators (microdermabrasion gel) and masks in this catagory. I would likely cleanse after a physical exfoliator at times depending on how well it rinsed. Also, you need to be careful using both physical and chemical exfoliators not to overdo. In using them both, consider using the microdermabrasion gel no more than once or twice a week. For masks, I would probably do them just after cleansing once or twice a week, but it is not necessary to cleanse before.
2. Tone......aha and bha (your chemical exfoliators) go here, pore refining toner and hydrosols.....aha and bha can be done one right after the other as long as they are given sufficient time to work (at least 15 minutes) and you don't react to it. Please proceed with caution. If you are using the microdermabrasion gel, you need to use this toner combo at one to max of three times a week...if you overdo the exfoliation, your skin will likely start to feel very sensitive. At that point, you need to cut back. I recommend aha and bha at night (mostly because of the Super Serum interaction and the photosensitizing of the chemical exfoliators....makes you more prone to sunburn) and the other toners and hydrosols for the other applications. Really, you can just use the other toners as you like.
3. Treat....water based things like serums....Super Serum does not work well in the same application as aha or bha...use it in the daytime. Oil Control Serum is probably the last one to be used in this category as it is kind of a blend of a moisturizer and serum. Otherwise, you can choose what you want to go here as far as a serum goes.
4. Moisturize....Hemp or any other moisturizer here....
5. Specialty.....Holy Crow, or any other specialty thing that does not really fit in any of the catogories.....
