Lippy swatches (incl. raisin)

Post by lilychemgirl » Thu Feb 11, 2010 8:08 pm

Here are some lippy swatches I did, I was in a hurry, so the pic is not very good, but the colours are pretty true. The 4 on the left are colours I love, the 4 on the right don't work for me.
L-R figleaf, sweet nothing, skinny dip, berry nice, raisin (too dark, but gorgeous colour), celestial (too pink on me), nectar (too brown/warm on me), breathless (just a bit too pink)

Raisin is described as a bolder Nectar, did you find this to be true. It looks much more red than Nectar. Breathless is too pink on me also, strange w/ the brown in it.

Thanks

Ooh, I am getting Nectar in a swap. I hope it is not too brown on me. I used to have the Clinique version and loved it. Hopefully, I wasn't running looking like I had "corpse lips" ( ;) JenK) for the couple years I wore it. :? I guess I will know how good my friends were back then if this stuff looks hideous on me

I really like Nectar, now that I've given it a chance. If I put too much on or look in the mirror right away it can be a bit brown, but turns to a reddish stain after a few minutes. It is way less brown on me than Rhapsody. I've even worn it w/ pink tops (w/o thinking) and it looks ok.

Oh dear. I do like that swatch of Raisin, and Nectar looks good on me.....and I already have over 50 SN lippies - there would be even more, but i've given away 30 or so that didn't suit. Yes. I was here from the beginning. Addictive place, this :)

Nectar is nice, I just can't wear warm lip colours. I think Raisin is more like a more bold fig leaf in colour family.

Great swatches, thanks Lily! I got Nectar in a swap and lovelovelove it - for me it is an extremely wearable color that goes with just about anything. One layer looks very natural, additional layers only look better. I am very warm toned, but my lips tend to look almost lavender (only exaggerating a little bit) and one layer of Nectar neutralizes that and makes me look more alive.

In the swatch Nectar and Skinny Dip look quite similar, do you find that to be true?
