Think I Could turn my hubby in to a make up artist?

Ok, I tripped over the lawnmower last night and now have my right hand in a wrist immobilizer for the next 2 weeks, and depending on what the Ortho doc says prehaps a cast for the next 12 weeks. I can probably live with my strange curly hair, (it only curls from just above the top of my ears down, it straight on top}., but if blowdrying and then either straighting it or curling it is to much of a hassle, I'll make do, but I can't live with out make up ,and somehow I'm thinking Left handed just won't work, so do you think I could turn my husband in to a make up artist, or does anyone have a more practical suggestion for surviving this crisis?

By the way typing takes for ever just left handed!!!!

Ouch- that's not good. I hope that they'll keep you out of a cast- that just sounds like no fun for summer. I've learned *not* to have my husband "help" with anything beauty related. When we first got married I asked him to help me highlight my hair- no no no- big mistake.

I'll bet that you'll be able to do the basics in a few days when it feels a little bit better. I'll bet that you can do foundation, finishing powder, blush and lippies with your left hand- it's the eye makeup I would have a problem with. Maybe some of the simple washes- like Cashmere, or Honey. You can use just one of the Perfecting Powders instead of "the works" too- they're really not bad by themselves.

Well my first advice to you is for your wrist immobilizer- your wrist is supposed to be immobilized to heal so let it be. When I messed up my hand/wrist, the doctor threatened me with a cast if i didn't stop using my hand/wrist and they KNOW if you're cheating. lol

Lefthanded foundation and finisher aren't hard and the blush is not as easy but not ridiculously hard to do (it more just a little awkward feeling). The eyeshadow...I agree with Karen that you should stick to a more basic eye (and maybe skip the liner). What I've found is that a shorter brush helps immensely when you have limited movement. For example, i have 2 ultimate e/s brushes, one is the whole long brush and the other is broken at the finial so it is 2 pieces. the one in 2 pieces was easier to use with the immobilizer because they're so much shorter.

I've thought I could probably manage the basis also, at least byTues or Wed. But how in the world do you apply mascara left handed, I keep picturing the wand in my eye!!

I'm hoping it is only a severe sprain, a cast for 12 weeks in the middle of 100+heat doesn't sound like fun to me either

I kind of just hold the wand up to my eye and blink a few times- I can't see a darned thing without my glasses- so I've taken to doing it that way after accidentally poking myself more than a few times.

Hollis~ Hope your wrist heals more quickly than expected. I hope it's just sprained. Foundation, finisher, *maybe* blush should be ok applied with your other hand. Maybe for the duration you could pat on eye m/u wiith your fingers. I'll bet you'll figure out a way in no time!

Ok, I cheated and used my right hand for the mascara, but I didn't blow my hair dry or attempt to curl or straighten it. And I have been good and have left my immobilizer on except for a shower and the mascara. Ortho called, looked at my x-rays, just a severe sprain, so at least this will go away in 7-10 days. Actually it feels better tonight.

All other makeup was done left handed, Honey makes a great natural wash on my eyes,so that was what I wore , that and my usual 1 warm gold :6 white foundation, tempt tryst as FP and Lovelace as blush. Very subdued for me in the summer, but easy this am.

Your 'Sore Wrist FOTD' actually sounds quite nice! I am very happy to hear that your wrist is not terribly serious. I hope it heals quickly and you are back to playing with your makeup soon.
