Hi Jen, I am new to the forum and somewhat confused as how to start? I was wanting to get help in choosing lip, blush and eye shadow color suggestions. I recently purchased one of Silk Naturals organic lip gloss colors in Berry Nice. I have one other lip gloss by Dr. Haushka and it is called ruby; which is a pretty color.

My hair color is light ash brown with silver gray and a little bit of auburn in the back of my hair; which you really can't see! My hair's undertones are blue red. My eyes are blue with gold specks and violet around my iris and they are close set. My skin color is warm and somewhat pale; fair to light, with some redness and is sallow at times.

The bare escentuals mineral foundation fairly light color is a good color range for me. I usually don't wear any kind of powder foundation; as my skin is very sensitive.

I do like to wear lip gloss colors and your berry nice is a pretty color, but I am looking for some colors that will give me a little bit more color/brightness, but not too deep; as I dont' want my lips to look smaller and I don't want people to see my lip color first! I really don't know how to explain my lip pigment; I guess it is a medium mauvish color!?

I have heard Bobby Brown say that women with gray hair should stay with pink blush and lip color, but I know that there are many different hues in all color ranges; plus I am not completely gray headed; I am probably 50/50.

I am not able to post a picture; which I know would help. I am a 59 year old woman; so to me less is more where makeup is concerned, but most the time I just look too pale, tired and washed out! I want some color, but I want my makeup to look soft. Any and all suggestions from you and any other members will be most appreciated! Thanks! Margie

Hi Margie,
I saw your post here as well as your email. I need to go look at a few of the lippies to make sure I am recommending the right ones. I will probably move this into its own thread very soon, but I wanted you to be able to find your post again.

Can you tell me what colors of clothing you like to wear most often? I can usually get a good idea of where to start with that. Also, do you want pinker, redder, or peachier versions of Berry Nice? I will see if I can find swatches of the other lippie online.

Hi Jen, Thanks for your speedy response! My clothing colors are a lot of black and navy, but I also wear green, purple, gray, fuschia, teal and cobalt blue tops. I defintely look better in cool or neutral colors.

The neutral colors cannot have a lot of brown in them; as I believe that would wash me out. The berry nice lip gloss is a nice color, but I need to brighten it up a bit! When I put my Dr. Hauschka lip gloss in ruby on top of the berry nice; it brightens it up and actually makes it look lighter.

I don't know about going peachy; probably pinker or redder, but I am not sure!? I also think pink/copper might be a good combination? I know I don't want my lip color to be too dark; as I believe it would make me look older!

When I wear charcoal gray eye liner; its looks kind of blah; so I am thinking I need to pick up the gold/bronze/copper/violet colors in my blue eyes!? Its hard to say about different colors; without trying them on and seeing how they look!

Anyway I look forward to receiving whatever suggestions you and anyone else would like to offer me! Thanks again!

It sounds to me like you are predominantly cool toned based on the colors you wear as well as your features.

Blush:
a matte plum tone....Pretty Plum.
a matte medium pink.....Lady.

Eyeshadow:
Sandy and Rizzo. These do have a pearl finish. If you are more interested in mattes, take a look at Ballerina, Bone, Eutaupeia, and Iris.

Lips:
Berry nice is a sheer raspberry color.
Breathess is a little more opaque and more pink, but it also has some brown to it.
Soft is a sheer pink. It will be brighter than Berry Nice, but about the same finish.
Fig Leaf is a lightly more opaque plum color, but it can look brown on some.
Raindrops on Roses is a shimmery bright pink.
My first choice is Soft. Raindrops on Roses is my second because you want brighter. Third, Breathless.
