Omaha steaks

Post by egerandi » Sun Jan 10, 2010 6:12 pm

I just placed my first order for Omaha steaks. The boyfriend and I don't eat much meat, but like a nice filet mignon once in a while, and they are on sale right now. Bought 6 6oz bacon wrapped ones for around $66 with shipping. Also got some coconut shrimp, on sale as well. Anyone tried them before? Oh, and I don't know how to cook steak, so any suggestions are welcome :)

i like omaha steaks alot, and have bought from them before; however, be prepared for quite aggressive solicitation phone calls from the company once you have ordered! they have really nice quality meat, but you usually have to buy quite a bit for it to be worth it IMO.
the best way to cook steak is on an outdoor grill, but during the winter we will do it indoors (either under the broiler or on an indoor grill pan). i'm a big fan of steak seasoning, but these steaks will probably be good enough that you will only have to use a little salt and pepper. i swear by a meat thermometer too. the probe type ones are great.

Haha, they can call all they want: I eat steak about once a year (and 3 ozs are plenty for me), so this should last us for a while :D

I have an indoor grill pan, that should work fine, and I have the digital read thermometer too, thanks for the tip!

i order from them when there's a sale and keep things in the freezer (crab stuffed sole, twice baked potatoes, chocolate melting cake, coffee cakes). I don't get phone calls from them but we also don't have a landline. my mom does get agressive phone calls from the from the orders she has placed. It should have come with a little instruction book for cooking everything. We usually grill steaks but tis not the season. We also have a george foreman grill though.
