Liptar

Post by Xarata » Wed Jan 06, 2010 7:04 pm

I know you asked about these before, and it was pretty unanimous that most of us weren't looking for a mix-your-own-shades-from-primary-colors kit.

Since then, I've finally tried a couple of OCC's liptars- one in clear, and i have to say it's a really awesome base. I've tried quite a few clear bases- jojoba, clear gloss, SN clear dipped in pigment- but a liptar is a liquid lipstick base- it's not sticky and one drop can turn any pigment into a longwearing lipstick. My first experiment was with red and i was really really happy with it. The only problem I've had with lip bases is that any shade with pearl in it will undoubtedly become a frosted lippie so mattes are best.

OCC's clear liptar is slightly minty, which I like- but I don't care about flavor, slightly sweetened SN flavor is always a hit. If it honestly can't be done at less than $12.50 a tube, I can accept that, but I know you've been looking for a lipbase and this is a great one.

Oh, those suckers stick like nobody's business! I have them in Grandma and Pageant. I've worn the latter several times last summer layered with Seedy or Damsel on top for softness (the tars dry my lips like crazy) and shine.

I would actually be interested in something like that in clear. I've been using some other natural gloss to mix my colors, but it's too glossy and doesn't have much staying power.

I have never heard of this before, but it sounds very intriguing! I found the OCC liptar page and I would definitely buy one if SN made one. I quite like making my own lippies with pigment, and I know loads of use EDM refugee’s were fond of this as well, mostly using blushes, etc. So I could see plenty of us making good use of this product.

Good idea to make your nude color from your foundation... this might be the answer to all of my problems with lip color... I think I want one, too.

I'm going to revive this thread, because lip tars would be amazing. Now that they're more mainstream, being sold at Sephora, it would be better to dupe them because A) the price has gone up and B) they're no longer really an indie company, so it wouldn't really be stealing their thunder to dupe them. I would love to see this!

Sounds interesting, but I have heard they are really drying. I would love it if there was a moisturizing version.
