Pure Natural Vegetable Glycerin

Post by Jessica » Sun Dec 06, 2009 7:22 pm

Would absolutely LOVE if somehow you could make this! Glycerin is awesome for all-round purposes for the skin - serves as a humectant, and is great as a mixing medium especially for keeping flaky skin at bay!

Was contemplating buying some online but I don't know who to trust :S

It's just not something we can produce cost effectively here..essentially you have to make soap, and then strip the glycerin out of it- which gives you sub-par soap, and glycerin (and it's a looong process). A lot of drugstores stock it, and I know that iherb.com does as well...there's almost always a coupon code, or some sort of a deal for iherb if you can't find it locally.

Thank you for your post, Karen! I never knew the process of making /obtaining glycerin - I didn't know it would have been difficult.

I had been looking to buy glycerin from a few sites, but the shipping was ridiculous ($12 just for shipping international) I looked at my local health & food stores, supermarkets, drug stores, but they didn't have pure glycerin, unfortunately.

I don't know which country you are in, but iherb.com has great shipping to just about any country for about $4 for up to 1.3 kgs. I bought some pure vegetable glycerin from there a few months ago - I think it was Heritage brand. It's definitely worth checking out.
