Deer in headlights...skincare line?

Post by feyith » Tue Dec 01, 2009 12:35 am

Holy poop! So many products, where to even begin?!?

What would you recommend for the typical late 20s' mild acne/fine lines/sensitive skin?

Currently the extent of my routine is just to wash my face with a mild soap and then Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish lotion.

I would love to switch to something a little bit more natural but am overwhelmed with the options...

Is there a must-have all-in-one like what I'm currently using?

I ordered a bunch of samples last week and my favourites so far is the Facelift serum, Firming Moisturizer <3, BHA toner, Oil Control Serum (only in T-zone), Kiss Cleanser and Pore refining toner. I like the Super Serum too but it doesn't leave my skin as smooth and silky as the Facelift. I'm 29 and my skin is about the same as yours.

I'm 35 but my skin is the same as yours. For cleaning I will use either the apricot cleansing oil or the Kiss cleanser (both work great on my skin). I use the pore refining toner afterward and find it really refreshing. I use the vitamin C peptide serum as the super serum does NOT agree with my skin (as much as I want it to!) and then follow up with the firming moisturizer. My skin has definitely been clearer since using the SN skincare line (I'm hooked and won't change now!) and a couple of weeks ago someone at my work guessed me to be 10 years younger than I am.

The best thing about the skin care is that they all have samples, and those samples last longer than you think they will...long enough to decide if you really like it or not - definitely not a one time use kind of sample.

Cool, I am definitely interested in trying the cleansers. :)
Does one work better than the other? How do they smell?
What do the serums do? Is that what you use to prevent acne?
I noticed there were a couple of different vitamin C formulas. What's the difference?

So far, I have in my cart:
* Apricot Cleanser
* Green Tea Serum
* Firming Lotion

The cleansers really have no smell...they are essentially unscented.

We do have a chart for some of the serums/etc.

I think it is good to start with a Vitamin C Serum.

feyith,
check out the post your routine thread under the skincare topic. sometimes it's helpful to look and see what others are doing when you are starting out building a routine of your own. i'll bump it up so it's easier to find. also take a look at the chart jen recommended, and make sure you read the descriptions of the products, as most of the skincare has detailed descriptions of the ingredients and what each of them do.
have fun ;)

i always buy 2 serums at a time, and just use whichever my hand gets to first. buy the super and the facelift - both the priciest, but the best for the price. i was using the firming moisturizer, but im going to switch to the intensive with my next order. my skin is EXTREMELY tempermental with huge pores, and none of these products do anything but keep my skin looking awesome. i use a serum, a lotion, and a homemade vit e/jojoba oil mix. jojoba oil and e for your skin, esp if its troubled, works wonders. i just use a soap from chagrin valley soap company and a loofa for am and pm cleansing.

just be sure you sample everything first. some products work amazing for many, but i've found a couple that my skin just can't tolerate (and i don't have particularly sensitive skin).

I second the recommendation for samples first. I sample first, too.
