Help I need a makeover too!

Post by Nancynce » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:49 pm

Hello!

I'm new to Silk Naturals. I just placed my first foundation order and I'm very excited about it! I ordered ebony based on Jen's suggestion, but I also threw in a sample of warm gold just in case I need it. I'm not really good with colors, I usually only wear mineral foundation (EDM's light medium), black eyeliner and mascara. I think it's time for some more color. I tried some of EDM's blush but it always turned orange on me...ugh

I guess I'm going for neutrals for the day and want to learn how to do smokey eyes for the night.

Thanks for all your help!

Sorry for the big pictures, don't know how to make them smaller.

Wow, in that third shot, you look like a model. You've got a strikingly beautiful face and a lovely complexion, so I don't think you need too much colour, nor indeed too bold a colour, to add to your ensemble.

If you want some simple neutral eyeshadows to start with, have a look at the colours in the Stonewashed Nudes palette (kit) and the Mixed Metals kit. You wouldn't need to get all of them, just pick out a pale, medium and dark colour to start with. Alternatively, Idolize is a very safe option and you can do a gentle smokey eye with it. Perhaps Bone or Cream to highlight under the brow.

Oh Cupcake you just made my day! Thanks for the nice compliments. I think I'm blushing!

Can you also recommend some blushes and lipstick please. There are so many of them I don't know where to start. I'd like to have them all!

Thanks again!

Hi,

Smokey Eyes.....for you I would go more of a warm gray smokey eye rather than a black one. First, the perfect blush for a smokey eye is something neutral. Try Maybe Baby. You really just need three colors for a smokey eye....one highlight, one dark, one mid tone. And there is no reason why you could not do a simple look with the same colors, and apply a little heavier for a night out. For Shimmery...go with Platinum, Carbon, and Diamond.....for colors that will aslo make great everyday colors....Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge, and Vanilla. You also need an understated lip.....try Mirage or Centerfold.

For more of an everyday look, try Flirt Blush and Breathless lipgloss. Also, a blush like Stardust might be a fun one with Berry Crush lip gloss.

You are so adorable first of all. :) Now if you are just used to liner mascara and foundation, I would try some things that are very natural/neutral at first. For blushes I would recommend Climax (everyone looks great in this), Maybe Baby, Flirt, and Petal. For eyes I would says some very pretty neutral eye colors. Like Cupcake suggested take a look at the Stonewashed Nude Palette and the Mixed Metals one too, just so you can find some nice neutral eye colors to try first, maybe even look at the Muse Palette too. For lips I think Jen is right I would try Centerfold, Mirage, Maiden, and maybe Cultured, or Polished Pink. Well I hope that that helps. :)

Thank you all! I'm excited about putting my order together! I think I'm getting carried away and will have to save some stuff for the wish list. Or maybe just make it an early holiday gift :P

Thanks again for your help!! I'll try to post pictures with your suggestions.
