Kits??

Post by karen » Wed Nov 18, 2009 11:37 pm

So I really want to do kits- and have a few looks in mind, a few skin care things- but are there any color combo's, kits or looks that you love?

I think it would be really cool to have kits for looks and have them both in warm and cool. I personally didn't realize I was warm toned until I really started getting interested in make up and I would wear horrible eyeshadow that looked good on the pale, cool toned model and look really bad on me! I think most looks can be created in both warm and cool tones, so I think it would be awesome to have those preset for make up newbs! For example, thinking winter, one of the "just in from the cold" or "party girl" kits that has been mentioned. Maybe a couple of eyeshadows, a blush and a lippie, but then have it for both warm and cool, so 2 kits! I guess this is kinda complicated :? I think this is just coming from me totally not understanding myself and thinking why can't i just look like them!! why does silver look so funny on me!! LOL.

As for the skincare kits, I think a "must haves" kit is a must have! with a super serum, green tea hydrating serum, and a moisturizer (jojoba maybe? or raspberry? I guess whichever is the bestseller!), or maybe making it a customizable kit with 1 serum, 1 hydrating serum and 1 moisturizer? I think sample skin care kits would be good, based on skin type (oily, dry, combo). I know that once winter hit, my skin turned DRY (juuust as i figured out my oily skin regiment) so now I'm lost again and a preset sample kit to try things out would be nice :)

PS- Other kit ideas: nude/work appropriate kit, glamourous yet natural kit (i think this one would be FANTASTIC, with bitten maybe! i feel totally glamourous yet SO natural with just one swipe!)

Hi Karen
I just wanted to add that I love this idea. I tend to just pick and choose things for myself but would love to be able to buy kits for my friends and family, that way I would know everything would go together without having to try them myself first. And I want to be able to introduce everyone to your awesome stuff. Thinking of me and my friends a kit that would be work appropriate like already suggested and one for a big night out would be great. A skin care kit would be great too.

Oooh yeah. A brush kit and a pick X number of eyeshadows (and one for blush samples) would be awesome.

We need an 'anybody can wear it' kit - at least within reason. I love doing other people's makeup shopping, but this time of year, especially, it'd be nice if we had a kind of universally flattering look. Most people can't figure out skin tone at all.

Lippies that look good on everybody I've put them on: Pout, Breathless, Berry Crush. Breathless might come up the winner in being pretty and no shimmer to it.

How about two or three pre-picked sample blushes and the same with eyeshadows? They could come in 3-gram pots, and nothing too complicated - liner shade, darker shade, highlighter shade? And a 3-gram pot of blush would last quite a while, too.

Haven't tried the Desert Plum blush, but it looks promising.

I know lots of women who like the idea of makeup, but haven't got to the 'it's fun to play with it' stage yet. A little nudge in the right direction wouldn't hurt, and a reasonably priced kit could be that nudge.

A moisturising/skin care kit would be nice, too - who couldn't use some shea butter cream this time of year? As well as maybe jojoba (that seems to go with most skin), oatmeal serum, lip balm, and possibly some Facelift (and a little Holy Crow) for us old folks and Simply C for the younger crowd? It could work in travel-size, maybe 10 mil bottles? Microdermabrasion gel could be good, cleanser I'm stuck on, because the KISS does better mixed with water and I don't know if people would want to mess with that in a travel size kit. Hmm....this bit is from feedback, btw.

I LOVED the little travel brush packs, and gave away - well - quite a few of those. That and a fibreoptic for blush would be a nice starter collection of brushes for anybody if it could be done.

All wrapped up in one of those spiffy make up bags you've got on the site?

I'm gonna talk to some folks and see what they'd like.

Not very inspired, I grant, but a lot of women (not to mention the blokes) see all those choices and get terrified.

I wouldn't expect you to take this seriously and I doubt that you'd have time but it could be fun - someday - to have ultra premium gumball kits! Say for X amount, lets loosely says $10, you get $20's worth of totally randomly chosen stock (cough cough the stuff that you want to shift off the shelves lol nudge wink) and have it packaged into simple bags. Colour co-ordinated sets, maybe a foundation sampler kit, a safe eyeshadow, a wacky eyeshadow, a lippy and whatever you've got lying around that could make a fun "try me" kit for someone. Obviously people could go nuts for it and order loads, so a limit to 1-2 per customer. If time allowed, the ladies in the shop could have fun putting looks together and classify them into "simple", or "a bit daring" or whatever basic categories would work without giving away too much surprise info. Could be a lot of fun.

When I tried my new Peace lippie, I thought it would be a pretty, safe color for a teen just starting to experiment with make-up; therefore, maybe a teen girl (non-goth!) kit would be a good idea. I think there are enough mothers/aunts/etc here to appreciate such a kit. It would need at least one lippie, like Peace, a soft blush, a one wash eyeshadow, and maybe a finishing powder. I remember my cousin having a powder from Clinique (mid 80's!!!) that was pinkish and sparkly and soooo pretty. Crystal Glow reminds me of that color, and it would be a great choice because it can work as powder, blush, and eye shadow. Teach 'em to multi-task early, I say!

I would love that travel brush kit everyone raves about- i never bought it and then everyone started talking about it-the idea of a brush kit that fits in your fist is pretty awesome.

For shadows...i always loved the fun pop of color highbeam, breathe, and teal appeal gave me. Super pretty and outside the box since all the colors are different. Something along those lines (teaching to mix and match colors rather than stay in one color family) would be fun.

I know it's already been suggested but a snowbunny collection of soft pinks and pastel blues/purples with a bit a frost in the mix seems perfect for this time of year.

I would be all over a customizable kit (ie. 5- 5gram jars of your choice) but can understand how the coding and inventory tracking for that could be a huge a pita.

When I did my fashion show, i gave each of my models a little origami folded box with a climax blush, a baby buki, a mini gloss, and a couple other sample-type things from all naturals companies. I used pout on almost all of them. A kit with a universally flattering lippie, 5g blush, and three color eye (highlighter, medium wash color, and liner) would be a fun gift.
