MAC Style Black collection mineralized eye shadows

Post by kitten1711 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 6:26 am

I would loooove to see dupes of these - particularly Young Punk & Gilt By Association; not sure about other countries, but within a few days of being released in the UK ALL of the shadows (all 4 shades) have completely sold out in stores, and so quickly that the collection never actually made it to being displayed on the MAC UK website :(

Since you've made the lovely black lippie Swank (which looks not that disimilar to Bling Black) & already have Film Noir cream liner (which could double for the MAC greasepaint stick), wouldn't it be nice to dupe the rest of the set?!!!!!!! (grovels desperately.................................)

I wondered why it never showed up on the website. The swatches (on Temptalia blog) were superb. I guess if a collection sells out *so* fast that they can't even advertise it, that's a strong endorsement for it's appeal. There will be a lot of people out there looking for dupes!

I really like the purple one, Young Punk, and the blue-teal one, Blue Flame but I just know that the golden copper (Gilt) one would be a massive seller, too.

Me too count me in on my vote for cloning :D :D

That being said if you can't wait for/if karen to clones the, I know of a similar/clone (can't tell on the photo) of young punk & possibly blue flame. The young punk is similar to barrym's fine glitter dust, purple black - No 23 http://www.barrym.com/products/product.asp?id=94 and I think blue flame maybe similar to barrym's dazzle dust patrol black - No 98 http://www.barrym.com/products/product.asp?id=77 . I can see myself popping to superdrugs tomorrow now :D

That being said if karen cloned it I would defiantly buy it :D :D

Ooooh good call!!!! :D Would never thought of looking on there but I think you're right about the Purple Black being similar to Young Punk - also, looks like the new Dark Chocolate shade next to Petrol Black may be a decent substitute for Gilt By Association.

And, what do ya know, I've gotta pop into town today for some boring bits & pieces so will stop by & take a look in Superdrug.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ghost :)

How will you ladies wear these dark colors? Kitten, I know you've said you like neutrals like I do... although I love the way the colors look in the jar, never know quite what to do with them. ;) I love that new beautiful dark purple of Karens! Do you have swank? How do you wear that? :D

Sometimes "brain cells" escape me!!!!

I went shopping at lunch (I work in the town centre), popped to Smith's to see if they had a book that waterstones didn't, exited by the side entrance which is directly opposite Superdrugs and did I go in to look at barry m - No. I stood outside Smith's thinking "now I know there's somewhere I wanted to go/buy" staring straight at superdrug, not a bloody click, penny, or alarm bell!!!!! LOL. Walked straight back to work and it wasn't till I got home and went to the SN (I'm a visit too many times a day stalker) that I realise I forgot to check out the e/s

Cause they say things happen in 3 well I had my three today - 1st I forgot my book to read on the bus, left it at home, 2nd I left my mp3 in my desk draw at work while I walked around town at lunch then of course 3rd I forgot to pop into Superdrugs :x

Forgetfulness, thy name is Sarah

I WILL pop in tomorrow!!!!!

Hi Extemter,

thanks for the swatches......and I know precisely where the pic is from (in fact sample baggies of Necromancer are en route as we speak) :D

Sarah - I went into Superdrug today (after running my other errands, honest guv!!) and had a look at the shades you picked out. The Petrol one looks pretty much the same as the Witch swatch from Extemter's photo, Purple Black is a pretty close match for Necromancer from that same photo, but I think both Barry M & the other companies shadows are much, much glitterier than the Mac originals, which are more sheeny/pearly without glitter specs IMO; both Barry M & the 'mystery' mineral company appear to use a black base shadow coupled with coloured glitter whereas the Mac shadows appear to me to be a coloured shadow (i.e. purple) mixed with a black shadow as a base to intensify the shade - I actually got my latest SN order today and think that Aubergine is a very close match to Young Punk (which I swatched on my hand again today) but I haven't had the Meow samples yet so my thoughts are based solely on the photos .

Trainer - yes, I prefer neutrals but cannot resist lovely looking shades like this; i anticipate wearing the purple shade either as a liner or just in the very outer corner of my lid, for an evening out.

Sooo....I bought Young Punk yesterday- should be here in a few days. They kind of remind me of the Guilded mini-collection GWP thing that we did...dark with shimmer. Vampire from the swatches looks a lot like Bewitched...to me Cinderfella looks a lot like Superstition.

I'm sorry Extremer- I had to pull the pic because they'd kill me for having their pic on our site- especially hosted on their servers because it kills their bandwidth usage.
