So far, so good - your SN skin care heroes?

Post by Cupcake » Mon Sep 28, 2009 8:33 pm

I was just thinking, before we dive into the excitement of a new collection, how about taking stock of recent products, in particular the skin care. Are there any products that stand out for you now that we've had several months to really throughly test them out through changing seasons?

For me...

Super Serum - I have clear, even-toned, comfortable skin for the first time since pre-puberty. My acne has as good as gone and much of the redness (general flushed looking, not real rosacea) has diminished. I went without the Serum for just over a week and believe me, it was noticeable! Pores seemed larger, skin got oilier and dehydrated and flakey. One day's worth of application later and it's well on it's way back to looking healthy again. Easily the most visibly proven as beneficial skincare I've ever used, bar none.

Jojoba Moisturiser - so simple but it's a HG for me. Jojoba keeps the hydration locked in and my skin balanced, but tissue-dry to the touch in the good way - perfectly balanced, no excess oil and no dryness (lack of oil). It's also the ideal canvas for minerals, no more foundation sticking to the sticky residue of moisture creams.

Microdermabrasion Cream - could not be better. It's my must-own. Does exactly what it says and does it better than anything else I've used.

Love the hemp moisturizer! Perfect for blemish-prone skin.

Would you say the hemp is as moisturizing as the raspberry moistrurizer?

My SN skin heroes:

-Vit C Peptide Serum, I swear this stuff has lessened the crease of my smile lines! I use this everynight, loves it ^_^
-Intensive Moisturizer, use it everynight, feels sooo good on my skin, and I love that it has the CoQ10 and Renovage. Prevention is key!
-AHA & BHA toners.... retexturizing my skin to make it smooth. Use the AHA everyday.
-Raspberry Moisturizer, keeps my skin balanced and feeling supple. Who knew using so little product would actually work? It's also a great base for SN foundation, no primer for me now :)

Honorable Mention ^_^
-Apricot Cleansing Oil, takes off my makeup w/o drying my skin and just feels great.
-Super Serum, haven't purchased the full size yet, but am making my sample last! Whenever I use it at night, my skin is super smoooth in the morning =)
-Pore Refining Toner, Ive been mixing this with like 4 spritz of AHA as my toning treatment lately. My skin feels so clean!

I <3 Silk Naturals...

Nice idea for a thread, Cupcake :)

Mine are:

Super Serum - love it. Gives a smidge of hydration, helps even out my skin tone, reduce size of pores etc. Use it morning & evening under a appropriate moisturiser (more about those later)
Raspberry moisturiser - use this in the day time for it's reputed UV protection properties. Light weight enough to use under my regular liquid spf product for an extr bit of protection
Intensive Firming Moisturiser - this is my evening moisturiser. At 35 I am conscious of not 'going downhill too fast' in the ageing department so this is a nice way of staving off the wrinkles, reducing any uneven skintone & hopefully help prevent slackening of the jawline!
Microdermabrasion cream - a little goes a very long way. Just the right amount of scrubbiness without being too harsh. Very tiny but effective particles leave my face feeling super smooth & fresh. Washes off very easily too.
Coconut lipbalm - quite soft in texture but feels amazing, smells divine & works great as an emergency cuticle softener too.

I can't really say. The raspberry moisturizer didn't work for me. It didn't soak into my skin. So I don't know if that means the hemp is less moisturizing or if they're just different types of oils.

I find the hemp very moisturizing (though it's not on the order of a heavy night cream), but I can't really compare to the raspberry.

Super Serum- This is fabulous in ways that are too many to mention.

Firming Moisturizer w/Renovage and CoQ10- I have to say that the gel moisturizer is a stroke of absolute brilliance and this is the first time I've been able to use one daily without worrying about icky emulsifying waxes clogging my pores, because they inevitably do. Renovage is a great active that is anti-aging and also calms my redness.

Pore Refining Toner- Multi-tasker.....I even spritz my face with it after I have applied my makeup. All the aloe juice in it makes my makeup look dewy and perfect.

I love the Apricot Cleansing Oil and will continue to purchase it simply because I'm a hardcore SN fangirl- but it is by no means my first foray into the OCM.

My top pick is the Super Serum. Although I also like the Pore-refining Toner, the Super Serum is the product I will be buying over and over again. I've been faithfully using AHA every night and BHA every morning for a few years now, but lately my skin has flared up and I've had a hard time controlling it (stress? age? hormones? who knows). Nothing calmed it down with any efficacy until I replaced the AHA with the Super Serum (I couldn't use both together as the AHA has an ingredient in it that doesn't work well with the serum, according to the Silk Naturals website). Anyway, this has stopped blemishes in their tracks and prevent those hard lumps of scar tissue from forming. The next morning, the skin all over my face feels smoother and more "bouncy". I also like that it absorbs really quickly, so I can whizz through my night-time routine.

The Pore-refining Toner is good as well... it has definitely reduced the visible size of my pores, although I seem to have reached a "plateau" of effectiveness as far as the pores on my cheeks go. I like that it doesn't sting and smells clean and fresh, too.

Thank you zeebs! I got a full sized Hemp and I loooooooove it, I love it more than the rasp! hehe Comparing the two, my skin prefers this. Thumbs up! :ugeek:

Cannot believe I haven't posted yet!!!!

Right mine are:
Microdermabrasion cream - My skin is soooo much better for this and "baby, soft, soft"
Green Tea & aloe serum - Must admit I haven't tried any of the others, but I love this one. "Pores be gone"
Pore refining toner - "Did someone say pores be gone"
KISS Cleanser - I cannot leave with out. The ONLY foaming cleanser that doesn't dry my skin!!!!
Green goddess mask - I should never be without this. This mask if fanstatic for cleaning out pores and make my skin clear and................oh it's just fantastic. At $1.50 worth a try.

Must admit I haven't done much with the mosituriser but me thinks it's time for another order *rubbing hands with glee*
I love the Apricot Cleansing Oil and will continue to purchase it simply because I'm a hardcore SN fangirl
Thanks for that royalgoddessbeth - put a smile on my face "hardcore SN fangirl" Maybe I should change my username name from Ghost..............

Alright, here we go:

Apricot oil cleanser: I used to make my own OCM mix, and still use it, but now I kinda prefer this one as it's less hassle and cleans and softens my skin beautifully, taking off all the make up. I even soak one end of qtips in it, in case I don't want to use it on whole face, just to remove eye makeup or dark lipstick. I then soak the other end in water and wipe off the oil. Tada! These qtips travel well too :D

KISS cleanser: Lovely standby for morning rinse and when I'm too tired to do all the steps (ie waking up at 3am on the couch realizing I'm still in my clothes and makeup, whoops - watching TV makes me sleepy and comfortable, hehe)

Super Serum: I used to use the facelift one and will alternate again, but this is just making my face glow, love it. I also believe it helped reducing some of my under and around eye wrinkletts (not deep yet, just starting).

Oatmeal serum: My skin tends to be dehydrated, so this works really nicely to counter it.

Oil control serum: Dingdingdingdingding! This is the winner :) My summer (face) was so much more pleasant using this, I'll never be without!

Raspberry moisturizer: I like this one a lot, perfect daytime lotion and when I travel I usually take only this one for night too.
