What else - foundation color question

Post by jenn79 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 8:26 pm

Just ordered and I'm really excited. However, I've never been sure about my "tone" and I've been told many different things - warm, neutral. Currently I'm wearing Joppa medium light. It's a pretty good match, but not perfect. When I ordered I chose peach going on the foundation guidelines (burn then tan). Did I make a mistake? I tried to attach pic, we'll see if it comes out. Thanks.

Hi jenn79,

I know exactly what you mean about having been told many things. I was right there, too, neutral but not exactly so. Your coloring does look very similar to mine. I can wear Ebony, Peach, or Olive (generally my best match) depending on the time of the year. (This week I am wearing Ebony 1:7. ;) )

In Peach which is one of our darkest bases, you will be about a half scoop Peach to about 8-10 Ivory (about 1:16-20). I don't think you made a mistake because I do think you are slightly peachier than I am. If you do decide the Peach is too pink for you, Olive (about 1:15) or Ebony (about 1:8) will probably work. I think the Golds (Buttery and Warm) will not be right for you because of the golden component. The other thing to remember is that the lighter the coverage, the more you can get away with a color that is not exactly perfect. Let me know if you have any more questions!
