Anti-rub sticks and stuff for shoes

Post by egerandi » Wed Jun 17, 2009 3:05 pm

Now that I can't hide my feet in nylons and 'secret socks', I'm looking for something that I can rub on my feet or the (strappy or otherwise non-tennies) shoes and won't get blisters. I've been using the monistat anti-chafing gel, with some success, but looking for better solutions. I tried Dr. Scholl's anti-rub tape inside the shoe at the worst spots, but I can't 'wallpaper' my shoes inside to cover everything. I also tried spraying my feet with natural deodorant, and that works too to avoid sweating and rubbing, but only partially. Regular lotion doesn't work :(

I just read about Boots Gorgeous Feet Amazing Anti-Rub Stick, anyone used that before? Or anything else that works? There is a lot of stuff out there, I just need to know if they actually work for at least some ladies, before I start shopping :)

This will not help for the shoes you have, but I find good quality and great materials make all the difference. I usually will go for one good pair in place of several cheaper pairs, that will not hurt when I ware them. Doesn’t always work but most of the time it will.

I use the monistat gel as a primer under my makeup, when I can be bothered remembering, works great for that. I’m curious about the boots, I do have one pair of canvas wedges that rub a bit, they were $5 and I just could not resist, should of known better

Haha, yeah, I can feel your pain! I like unique shoes and ever since I've entered my 'grown-up' stage, I pay the higher price if needed. It's just that I walk to work, and for some reason I decided to do that in heels and pumps, so no matter how pricey they are, 15mins of marching (I hate walking slowly) there and another back will put its mark on the little toes and heels. The only shoes I have never ever had problems with are my Rykas and my Clarks flower sandals.

If you do try the boots one, let me know. I think it's rather inexpensive from what I can see in blogs, but I have no idea how I'm ever gonna get a hold of it as I can't even find it on Ebay. Dr Scholls has something similar, maybe I'll just get that.

Walking to work is great, but not for your feet if you are in heels and straps. I would get a pair of neutral ballerina flats (with in-sole padding) and walk in them than switch. I live in the country so I need to drive everywhere, but I generally drive in Crocks and put my good shoes on before meeting with my clients.

I have one that I picked up at Walmart , it is made by Band-Aid and is called blister block. It is only.34 oz and so it fits into my purse easily enough, if for some strange reason I need to add more during the day. Also I have heard that many runners use just plain ole sitck type deoderant, on there feet in addition to 2 pair of socks, to help prevent blisters, so you might want to consider giving that a try.

hey, I have Dr Scholl sandals, they are great!! I would really recommand Dr Scholl shoes, besides they are quite trendy compared to other medical shoes, although of course you ahev to decide between elegance and comfort when it comes to shoes. But if you walk lots wou will see how Dr Scholl shoes will make your feet feel not tired and fresh. And also I never wear any high heels without a pair of nylon, otherwise it will rub.

Hollis, I used the blister block one and it worked pretty well. Andrea, give that one a try.It is pretty portable, too....., but, then again....I've seen the size of your bag! LOL!!!! Did you finally end up feeling better? It took me a couple of days.....

Cool, thanks! And yeah, the sicky is still lingering, today again I woke up with a sore throat, but it comes and goes. And yeah, my bag... that thing holds anything, hehe. Good thing it has some pockets, or I wouldn't be able to find anything.

My grandmother uses soap on sore straps, I've never tried it (I liiiiiive in mr Crocs flip flops, seriously... shopping, uni, around the house, sailing, on the beach, they are amazing!), and she swears by it! She also told me to use it on burns and I am seriously clumsy in and out of the kitchen, and that has stopped the burns I've had blistering and leaving bad marks! The best are the really soapy soaps not handwashes and shower gells and things

In that case maybe toothpaste helps too, cos for burns they are great, if you put it on immediately you will hinder any burns.
