Moisturizers and serums

Post by LionT » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:39 am

I am a little confused.. Do we use one or both?
If let's say we use the face lift serum, and one of the mositurizers, we apply the moisturizer first, then the serum? Would that "block" the absorption of the serum? Or should we "stagger" the applications, eg, morning serums, night moisturizer?
Thks.

I generally use a serum first, wait a minute or 2 for it to absorb, and "seal" everything in with a moisturizer.

Thks, Lyn. That's what I've been doing too..

But this is on the Hemp moisturizer page.

Hemp seed oil has a wonderful fatty acid profile. It's about the best oil for acne-prone skin because it has a high percentage of linoleic acid- more than pretty much any other oil. It's light, soaks-in easily, and feels wonderful on your skin. There's no THC in it.

Our moisturizers are a little bit different than regular ones...they're essentially a thick gel that has the oil suspended in it. The gel doesn't get along well with sodium PCA-which is in most of our serums so if you're putting this on over a serum- just pat it on, or put it on first, and then apply your serum.

That's why I'm confused..

It's an either or situation...normally serum first, then moisturizer. If your skin is really clean, and you don't rub rub rub the moisturizer in you'll be fine. It worked really well for me that way..then the weather got really hot and humid, and I found it to pill just slightly- so if it feels really sticky in my house I do the moisturizer first, and then the serum. Technically it should be the other way around, but I found that it absorbed just fine after the moisturizer. There's nothing waxy in any of the moisturizers so they don't tend to seal the skin as much as a regular one.

Would they be okay to use normally over the Simply C serum, I don't think that has Sodium PCA in it! Also, I'm torn between getting the full size of the Simply C and the Peptide serums... would peptides be too much for 21 year old skin? I don't know very much about them :P

It's not a serious serious issue with the rolling...I tested and tested and tested, and then all of a sudden it's summerish here, and I had the slightest little bit of rolling. I'm just such a nervous person with the skin care that I thought I'd put a note in the gumballs just in case.

Yes...peptides are kind of unnecessary for younger skin. They're meant to build more collagen, but if you haven't lost it yet there isn't much of a need to get it back (lucky). I'd say for your skin try the Super Serum- that will protect that lovely young skin, fight the breakouts, and hopefully you'll thank me in 20 years when you look so much hotter than the other 40-year-olds.

I'm off to go make a chart!
