Taylor Swift's eye makeup

Post by Trainer » Mon Jun 01, 2009 10:49 am

I saw Taylor Swift on Dateline last night and I really liked her eye makeup. Does anyone know how she gets the white shimmer around the inside crease and bottom of her eye? Does silk naturals have anything I can use for this look? Thanks!

Without seeing it, I'm not sure what you mean but a lot of folks do something similar by adding a touch of something pearly to the inner corner of their eye. Pearly is better than shimmery as the tiny particles of shimmer could fall off easily and irritate your eye and tear duct. You can dampen a brush and wet-line on something with a pearl base to re-create the effect, the same way as you would apply a dark liner.

I did not see the show, either. I looked online for pics, but could not find any. I agree with Cupcake that you need a pearly light color that has more of a sheen than a shimmer.

The highlighter color with the sheeniest finish and no other shimmery layers is Frenchie. It is a creamy color that has the slightest pink hue. Cream is close, but it does have a layer of copper added.

Yes, a lot of the colours are quite pearly but there are lots of different finishes including pearly, sparkly, shimmery, satin and matte. Some eyeshadows are a bit of two finishes, maybe shimmery and pearly.

Here's an idea: http://www.silknaturals.com/callouts/sh ... tches.html This is really out of date now but it gives an idea what a lot of the eyeshadows look like. A few have been retired but a lot more have been added in the last couple months.

See the second photo down on the right, the one with Bone, Vanilla, Whipper Cream etc? I think you'd want something like that. It depends on your colouring and if you just want an inner eye highlight, or something to compliment, or even contrast, to the colours used elsewhere around your eye. If you just want something as close to plain white as possible, try Vanilla or Sprite (like a pale white-yellow gold but it is sparkly). Maybe Frenchie would be best, too. There are lots of ways to achieve this effect and lots of different colours to use. If you want to try this with colour, maybe Pixie for a pale aqua green, Sizzle (blue-green), Creamsicle (soft peach), Sandy (very pale peachy pink), Boom (pale antique gold) for starters.

If you have something simple with pearl in it, you can mix a little pearl into any other colour you love to give it a slightly metallic effect, too. That could also work if you just want to keep it simple and adapt something you already own.
