I've read the Twilight series. It's not scary at all. It's romance. They're a bit trashy and not brilliantly written but the characters make you fall in love with them so it's easy to get hooked. I couldn't put them down.

Thanks for letting me know!! I am already thinking I'm going to like them - I've read about 3 chapters already and just got the book today. I can see what you mean about not being able to put them down and you are the second person now who has told me that they are that way. We got to talking about them at work the other day - my friend's college-age daughter is reading them and someone else knew about them too. No one could remember the names but I recognized them in the store today by the photos on the front covers (the chess piece etc.) plus they knew they were about vampires - so I was browsing books in Target today and realized it was those books, and I am ready for something new and fun to read right now anyway.
I have a few days off here and I am thinking that I'm going to be reading quite a bit. I only bought the first one in case I didn't like them but Target was well-stocked with the other 3, so I'm guessing I'll be back at the store within the next few days buying the rest of them.

Karmen, I have also read the *twilight* series and really enjoyed it! I haven't had a chance to read the the one that just came out, though. I don't know if you know that they are making a movie out of these books, with the young man that played Cedric Diggory in the HP movies playing Edward.
Another really fun series-that is lightyears away from vampires and such is by Sophie Kinsella- Confessions of a Shopaholic. There are; I think; 4 sequels, and each one is funnier than the last. they are also making a movie out of it too. I can hardly wait for it! this one is *my* sex in the city!

Hey Karmen
I'm fine thanks. I'm still dieting (did I mention that?!?!). Had a little blip when I was on holiday at the being of September but its holiday. And I didn't feel guilty not one little bit. The food was all bad but tasted oh soooo good. But now I'm back on the wagon being good (being good, how boring. Being bads more fun

). I get weighed (at the doctor office) in two weeks so keep you finger cross. And I got my hair cut and dyed just before holiday (mental note to update the photo). Only problem is I tried a Lush Bar shampoo for the 1st time and it stripped most of the deep red dye colour out of my hair - not good. Hows things with you??? Caught up with Charmed yet????
Defiantly try amazon for Sherrilyn books they always have them, but believe me (and pinkfox will back me up) they are worth the wait. I came, I read, I conquered the Acheron book. Amazing book, my longest one yet at 728 pages and it took me a little under a week to read. The first 428 pages are about Acheron's past (be warned it is sad and depressing) but then it skips to the present day and all is good. The guy gets the girl in the end ...................after she throws a hammer at him (missing him) for being a jerk, believe me its hilarious
The twilight series by Stephanie Meyer - I've heard of it I think (seeing it the book shop) but no I haven't got it. Well from everyone’s recommendations I think I'll have to add it to the birthday list. You know that list, it’s the one where your family should get you gifts ONLY on that list if they know what good for them. Not everything on the list, just stuff on the list - looking at my mum while typing this (and of course keeping in mind not too expensive). Does anyone know the 1st book in the series of the twilight?
At the moment I'm reading Michele Bardsley "Because your vampire said so" third book in the broken heart series. The 1st one being "I'm the vampire, that’s why". Its hilarious series, something I think you’ll like it Karmen. It very funny and not scary at all. Its set in a small town in Oklahoma called "Broken Heart". some of the resident get accidentally turned in to vampires. The consortium (which is the vampire council thing) had already started to buy the resident of Broken Hearts homes, land and business. A crazed vampire infected by the tainted (vampire plague) escapes and starts biting some of the residents and to save them some of the consortium members turned them into vampires. The 1st book is about Jessica Matthews, who is divorced with two kids. It's a very cute story, about a single, perky mom, who gets attacked and killed when she goes out to throw out the garbage one night. She "wakes up" a vampire. The reader follows her adjusting to her new life as a vampire mom and further happenings........... dun dun dunnn
Hope you have a great few days off (lucky devil) Let me know me know how the book reading goes.
Sarah

My favorite author is Diana Gabaldon, particularly her Outlander series. I had the misfortune to come across the fist book the year it was published, this is unfortunate because she takes so long to write her books. She does great research so there is a lot of interesting history in her books.
I am currently reading the 3rd Harry Potter(learned my lesson and waited until they were all published), Lord John and the brotherhood of the blade and I have Jesus for the Non Religious but have not started it yet.
I may have to give those vampire books a try next.

Hi Sarah, (don't think I knew your name before!)
Thanks for the message. Congrats on the dieting - that is hard work! Glad to hear it's going well for you! I will def keep my fingers crossed for when you get weighed and hope it goes well.
About the shampoo bars, there is an online place that sells them that might? be cheaper than Lush. It is
http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com. They have a lot of nice soap and shampoo bars and Jen W is actually close enough to them that she can go there and pick up her stuff instead of having it mailed to her, and she says they are very nice. I don't know if theirs would still strip the color out of your hair ? but like I said it might be cheaper? I know they ship international but I also realize that "cheaper" is a relative term when factoring international shipping in. The only bad thing about Chagrin Valley is that they're very busy and since the soaps take a long time to cure, there are always quite a few still curing and some out of stock when you go to order. So, if you have certain things you want to try you're def placing multiple orders to get them. Will be looking for your updated photo. I haven't cut my hair in about 6 months. I just keep letting it grow and don't really know what I am trying to achieve - LOL. I actually love coloring my hair red (it's normally kind of a medium brown) but once I get it red it's very very hard to get out once I decide to change it (my hair just wants to grab the red and hold on!! LOL) so I haven't done that in a while. Mostly I just concentrate on covering up gray hairs which I don't have a ton of but def enough to annoy me!!!
I looked at Amazon and they do seem to have all the Sherrilyn books. Maybe I will have to start those once I finish these Twilight ones. Oh, and I think the ones the library here had were "Dream Chaser" not Dark Hunter ones. LOL. Now that I see the Amazon listing luckily they have the series and book # noted so it is easy to pick them out. I am assuming the Dream Chaser series is something totally different than the ones you're talking about??
OK, the Twilight series is pretty good!! (if you can't tell by all the people jumping in above and recommending it - LOL!!) I really blew through the first book a lot faster than I wanted to. I have always been a fast reader but over the last few years I've tried to slow down a bit so I can enjoy the books more (esp like the Harry Potter ones when I knew I'd be waiting a WHILE to get another new one.) But - sometimes I just get so interested in the story and want to see what happens so I forget to slow down. Anyway, I'm already done with the first book which is called just "Twilight." I went to the store and bought the next 2 yesterday (New Moon and Eclipse.) There is one more - Breaking Dawn - and that's the 4. There is an excerpt of another one on her website (Midnight Sun) which is Twilight written from the male protagonist's viewpoint instead of the female protagonist's viewpoint but I guess that got leaked out somehow and published illegally on the internet, and the author got really upset about it and has ceased working on it for now. Anyway, she published the excerpt on the website
http://www.stepheniemeyer.com which I plan to read once I'm done with all the other books. The nice thing about this for me is that all the main books are already written, so I don't have to WAIT for another one to come out like I did with Harry Potter (like someone mentioned above.)
I'll have to check out your Michael Bardsley ones when I'm done with these too and see if I can find those around here. I usually don't buy all my books except the ones like Harry Potter that I know I'll reread and then the ones like these Twilight ones where I'm unwilling to wait to get them from the library!! LOL
I will report back on the Twilight series when I get done with more of it!. yep, I think you should get them - I think you will like them!
Take care and talk to you later!!!
Karmen

update on progress on Twilight series -
Oh- my- gosh!! - all I have to say is - if you haven't read these, DO! I am seriously obsessed ATM!! LOL!! I am getting very close to finishing the 2nd book and it is at a point where I literally did not want to put it down. I haven't picked it up again since getting home from work because I do have things that I have to get done around the house!!! It appears I have 100-some pages left so may be able to finish it later tonight. The interesting thing is - I never would have picked these books up if my friend had not told me about her daughter liking them and sparking my interest. I just would have never thought they would be my type of thing.
I am literally making myself slow down and not read at top speed and making myself set the book down and walk away! I just want to prolong the fun/anticipation as long as I can manage to make myself do it. It's hard though when the story gets interesting! This morning I even got teary over one part (not a part in which you would have necessarily expected it either) - I am just getting really emotionally invested in the story, I guess!
I have been taking them to work and reading on my lunch break - just solidifying my reputation as a "book nerd." LOL!
Thanks to all who gave thumbs-up on this series!

Hi Karmen
You have me convinced I've put the 1st book from the twilights series on my birthday list. Can't wait now to give it a go!!!!!. Don't worry about being a book nerd. I go on and on about my books at work, which my collegues arel ovely enough to humour and listen. My books are not to everyones taste but I'm trying to corrupted them......................... slowly
I know what you mean I never cry reading a book until I read The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. The ending to that was a tear jerker for me. It's like watching E.T, you know its coming but you just can't stop watching it and shed a tear.
I'm reading a book by Dead End Dating by Kimberley Raye, Thing sex and the city if the girls where vampires and Carrie ran a dating agency lol. Its quite funny. It even has the meddling mother

I cried reading 'the Time Traveller's Wife', too. The Twilight books are a fast, entertaining read. I am already planning to go see the first movie with a close friend.
