I wore Original, Venus, and a neutral highlight from another company *ahem*. Just hosted a small gathering at my home. It was good.

Whew! The party was a huge success! I tried to do a smokey eye using Unique with a black cream base underneath...epic fail. After that I ended up with Purr, Unique and a smashbox gold color. It ended up very pretty. I finished with cupid and some blur. I looked festive and had a great time. I now have 365 days left until next years party. Hardly enough tume to recover.

Me too on the black and grey and fun eye! Except, I layered Lunar and Martian on top of a black base, highlighted with Frosty, and some in the inner corner too, and lined with Velvet. Took forever to take it all off when I just wanted to crash into bed at 5am hehe.

The NYX jumbo pencil I use is Slate. I like it, but it creases quickly, even with the UDPP underneath.

I don't really understand how to wear colours over a dark base so it doesn't look stupid, I am really pale, and also don't use anything that isn't mineral, do you have to use a cream base, or would a matte eyeshadow work? I tried gargleblaster over a matte brownish grey, it just didn't look right. Where do you apply the dark base up to? Up to the crease? How do you blend the base so you don't look like a drag queen?

I'm extremely pale and here's how I wear colors over a dark base. I'll use an indelible cream eye shadow or paint pot or cream eye pencil and put the black on my lid. Then I pat the color over the black base and bring it up into my crease, or I use another color in my crease (depends on what you're going for). I tend to extend the black base into my lower crease.


In this look I've got a black paint pot base, a deep purple on the lid and into the lower crease, a bright purple in the upper crease, and Silk Naturals Nymph to highlight


This is a cream eye pencil, with a red on the lid and a burgundy in the crease.


This is another cream black pencil, with a light periwinkle shade on the inner lid and a black with purple sparkles on the outer lid.


I really like this type of look for a night out, but I know it's pretty bold.

I love those bright and bold eye looks, I will keep practicing using a cream base. Does SN have one? I saw some other companies ones but want to stick with what I trust. Does anyone use color bases besides black? I haven't tried UDPP Sin, but that seems worthwhile. I also will try a white one for bright colors...time to play!

I use black, white, pink, blue, teal, etc. I have several different colors from many different companies.

I'm guessing you can use the cream eye liners from Silk Naturals as bases.

you need to use a creamy base; putting the colors over a matte e/s won't work out too well. i apply the dark base just over my lid, up to the crease. alot of times i will just use this and one color over it (this is easy and doesn't take too much time, and if you just keep it to your lid, it doesn't look drag-queenish). if i have more time, i'll use another shadow (over a regular primer) in the crease to blend out the dark base and the color over it. the black base i use is just a loreal cream HIP black e/s pencil. here's amalgam (a GWP eyeshadow) over a black base:

i think you can use the cream film noir liner as a black base, but i have never tried it. i have 2 of the cream liners (the clear and the black cherry). the clear is very hard to spread and i don't think i could get it to work as a primer. the black cherry is a little more soft, so it might work; i'll have to try it sometime. if the black isn't too hard to spread, it should work ok. i use the NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils as cream bases over my regular eyeshadow primer. they work well and are inexpensive, and used this way they help e/s last a long time. i use the yogurt color (a neutral pink) under any eyeshadow; i also have a green and a purple that i use to make matching e/s more vibrant, since i wear purple and green e/s a lot. the black NYX pencil is called black bean.

I use a NYX jumbo cream pencil in Slate: cheap and soft enough to spread well. I do pull my lids when I apply, as my lids tend to be twitchy and fold too much. It's not mineral but SN Film Noir may work just fine, that's what she shows on the swatches, layering the morphing shadows over it (like the new WOW ones).

I'm pale too, btw, but not too pale. Grab a NYX if you don't want to spend much to find out how it works. Layering similar cream colors under your shadows can make them pop (but don't forget the base layer like UDPP or SN eye shadow base). Have fun!

Thanks guys. I am going to grab a few more NYX Cream Pencils the next time I am at Ulta. I am thinking about going for some of those L'Oreal HIP ones or maybe a Stila Smugepot. I saw Mad Minerals had one, so I am good with options. I think I'll go with a color similar to Purr (which is what I find myself grabbing every day).
