Karen, if there are enough pple interested in baby skincare products, you might want to consider that?
I am shocked because i have read that Johnson&Johnson's which are even used in hopitals are NOT SAFE! No wonder i once got a rush by using it on my legs, so what about the poor babies, who wants to dispose their baby to cancer risk? So I know that when i will have to choose baby skincare products i will study each ingredient and would like to find products that are paraben and fragrance free! I wonder how easy or difficult that will be, knowing that a product sold in pharmacies as totally natural and safe isn't all that!
baby skincare?
Re: baby skincare?
Dr Bronners sells unscented "baby/mild" soap that you can use as shampoo... I have no idea if it is tear-free (but "tear-free" is kind of a misnomer to begin with).
And I am pretty sure that Burt's Bees has a big line of "baby bee" products.
But Karen's is almost always better than everyone else's... so while I don't have kids, I think this is a good idea!

Re: baby skincare?
I vote for a baby line too, for strictly selfish reasons.
My grocery store has several products for baby that look OK in the organic section, as Zeebs said Karen’s are usually better.

I have used both the California Baby line and Burt's Bees for kids on my daughters and I like both brands. CA Baby is on the pricey side thoughzeebs wrote:Dr Bronners sells unscented "baby/mild" soap that you can use as shampoo... Re: baby skincare?
I've been pondering it for a few days and at least a couple of items seems do-able. The big challenge is that I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to baby stuff. What do babies need? I'm guessing some sort of cleanser, maybe some baby powder, baby oil, a lotion....perhaps a diaper rash balm. I'll be upfront and say that I'm a little wary of baby products- they're so tiny and delicate, it would kill me if something happened but after reading some of the ingredients on some of the things on the shelves..yeah, I'll at least give it a whirl.

Re: baby skincare?
As a mom who has been there, I mostly think a gentle all over wash and a gentle body lotion (or even a simple gelled oil) would be about all you'd need. Baby oil is not that great, but now that I know about other oils, they would be much better.
I did not use powder (talc based, especially not good for girl babies) on my children, but I did very occasionally use cornstarch. Diaper rash cream might be nice. It is pretty much an ointment of zinc oxide, if I recall. Most of the diaper rash we experienced needed more than zinc ointment. They were often yeast infections, but we did not have them that often.
I really think simple ingredients and no fragrance are the key things to a good baby or child product.
For those that have older children (my DD is 11) the simpler products currently in the line work wonders. We are just starting to emphasize good skincare at her age. DD uses the KISS cleanser, Aloe and Green Tea serum, and a strawberry spritzer.......when she remembers, of course! The Oat serum would probably be good, too. I am looking forward to trying the gelled oils. I will probably add one of those for her, too.

Re: baby skincare?
Castille soap is generally mild enough for babies. What I dislike about 'no tears' formulas is that they make them 'no tears' by putting in an anaesthetic to numb the eyes. Not good.
Calendula is a good healing ingredient for a diaper rash salve, as is chammomile because it's soothing; comfrey (on account of the allantoin) might be, too, at least if there's no infection, but I'm not sure if comfrey is safe for infants.

So nice to read all thgis and get all these information, it helps me as a future mom. Good toknow what babies really need ad what is or isn't safe. If you do some basic products without fragrance andparabens Karen, like those Jen suggested, i am surely a client!
