Lip gloss color help

Post by Atrox » Sat Jun 20, 2009 11:09 am

Need help- I have Kisser Slicker Birthday Suit and it is too dark and too brown for my face. I recently got a sample of Peace and layered a small amount on top of Birthday Suit and made a much better color for my face- more nude, a teeny tiny bit of a shimmer, and a tad bit brighter. What color would that be (I would like it a bit more sheer also)?? I've tried Birthday Suit and that is just not right on me either (too peach?)- but I can't really say why since I am no good at colors. I am pretty fair, light brown hair, blue/gray eyes- I use a small-medium amount of ebony as my foundation color.
Thanks!

Have you tried Maiden? That is usually a really good one for those who feel Birthday Suit is too brown on them.

From your swatches, Maiden looks too peach for me (?)- looking for something a bit more sheer. Are you swatches good representations of this color?

They are good for telling the colors apart. However, we all have differing lip color, so it is not a good approximation of how they will look on you.

How did Peace look on its own? It is sheer, slightly shimmery, and more pink than Maiden. Peace is a fairly mid-range (on the cool to warm spectrum.) If it looks warm on you, we need to head into the cooler shades.

Also,I was a bit confused about what you meant by Birthday Suit being too brown for your face, and then you later called it too peach. There really is not any peachy tone in Birthday Suit. Did you mean Peace was too peachy? If Peace is too peachy, you will need Pout. Pout is more shimmery than Peace, and more pink, but not as sheer. Soft is also a good pink, but it has a little more pigment and no shimmer.

I will take a look at a few others and get back to you on them. I need to recheck Very Berry for sheerness, but it is probably about the coolest toned pink we have.

I am really bad at colors, but I meant that Peace was potentially too peach colored for me (but I was not sure if it was peach that I was seeing). Well, apparently, I am not great at keeping up with things. I was cleaning out a drawer and found Skinny Dip, which is pretty good, so I will stick with that one until its done. Thanks for all your help!
