Let the New Moon obsession begin

Okay all

After the 1st New moon trailer to come to light (swear I've only watched it a few times on you tube..........okay, okay that's a lie) on MTV awards, I think its time to start a thread.

I personally am counting the months, weeks, and days (5 months, 2 weeks and 3 days) for New Moon. The trailer looks good the only thing I'm concerned about is that the new moon trailer seems, I don't know colourful while Twilight has an almost Tim Burton's darkness to it (the colours were toned down). Of course as long as they stick to the book I'll be happy, but I do hope they keep the Tim Burton feel to it. But I know if they don't, it won't stop me and my sister from seeing it quite a few times

Admission time.....

I have been pretty obsessed with the last movie and the books. Now my DD has read three of the books (we are holding off a bit for the last one), seen the Twilight movie, and is almost as obsessed as I am. We are both very much anticipating the next movie. I really have to keep my cool so I don't encourage that 'tween fangirl syndrome' in my DD!

I agree with you on the differing color palette to the cinematography. It is hard to see the vampires as super pale with the more golden tint; they just look more like normal people. With Twilight, the overall blue tint added to their unrealness. I am willing to see how it comes out, though.

Oh a kindred twilight obsesser

I'm right with you Jen. I've watched my twilight dvd sooooooooo many times I think I've worn it out and I need to buy a new one. I lent my dvd to a friend of mine at work over the last bank holiday weekend, well.................I missed it so much that I had to bribe my younger sister to lend me hers for a few days (don't judge me ).

Yeah they defiantly look like normal people, but yes I will go to see it. My sister and I saw twilight every two weeks when it came out (I thought every week would have been too much ) for a grand total of 4 times. Doesn't sound like much, but me and Sian were obsessing in between the showings. In fact we're still arguing over Edward LOL. But don't worry we (not that I'm a teenager) fall short of having 'tween fangirl syndrome' - I hope

I just watched Twilight on DVD for the first time two nights ago and I really need some pointers here as I didn't get it. It seems like a teenage angst love story but with a twist that they're vampires and going in for a french kiss will always make the girl a bit more nervous than normal Then again, I didn't get the whole LOTR thing either as I didn't read the books and work up anticipation at seeing the characters come to life. Does it make much difference having read the books and lived with the characters in your head for a while? It seems so with LOTR. If you guys think it's worth it, I'll try and get copies of the Twilight book series to get more into it. I know for sure that I didn't enjoy the Harry Potter films nearly as much as I loved and lived through the books - is this the same kind of thing? Glad you guys love it so much, all the same. It's fun to have that to eagerly look forward to.

(an excuse for a new SN collection of colours, perhaps? All with a mean, moody, romantic and moonlit kind of hue? *engages humorous sarcasm* possibly a colour corrector or complexion enhancer range?? :p )

I really think having read the books helps. Mind you, it is not on the level with great literature, but it is a fun indulgence and a quick read. For me, it was hard to put the books down, because the characters were pretty well written, and the story line is good and moves along at a good pace. I think of it as mostly innocent fluff. It has just been fun for me (and several of my friends about my age along with their tween daughters), and now that DD is interested, it is even more fun. I would not call the movie fabulous or perfect, but it certainly fits into what I look for in a movie. Book adaptations are rarely spot on. I do think you have to live with the characters in your own head for a while, but still be open to someone else's interpretation.

I am also a big fan of LOTR and Harry Potter (I guess any type of fantasy, really). When I read, I am looking for something light, fun, and entertaining. Life is tricky enough without intentionally adding stress when I want to be entertained. My window of time for reading is small, so I tend to be pretty selective.

I'm probably one the few people on earth that hasn't read or seen LOTR. Never had any desire at all. Actually never had any desire to see or read HP until book 4 was out and then DH brought me home the boxed set of 1-4 and I read em in 3 days and I was hooked. I was soooo p***ed off when they pushed backed the date from last Nov. till this July for HP6 the movie. THATS the one I can hardly wait for!

OH....and and am I the only one that just now figured out that the actor that plays Jacob is the the same kid that played *Shark Boy* in the movie *Shark Boy and Lava Girl*?

I have to hold my hand up and admit to being a complete Twilight saga freak aswell and am soooooooo glad to hear that you ladies love it too - was beginning to feel a bit embarrassed at 35, having read the entire 4 book series twice through now (OK, maybe 3 times) .

The Twilight film was good in it's own right (my other half has not read the books surprise, surprise and very much enjoyed the movie) but I think I enjoyed it more than he did. I absolutely loved the books and always find that film adaptations are a bit of a let down because so much gets left out & the on screen characters aren't quite what you'd visualised, and that was the case here too. I found that the first book of the series came to an abrupt & unsatisfactory end so I would definitely suggest that you have New Moon ready to go immediately after Twilight to avoid the crashing halt which I got a bit miffed about.

I didn't read LOTR either and found the films a bit 'blah' - OK enough, but I wouldn't have queued to see any of them (very much a case of waiting until they came out on DVD), but I think those that did really enjoy the movies are the ones who had read the books first. With Twighlight so much was missed out of the film, little touches & plot lines which really made the books for me, and I think having read them first you're filling in the gaps which makes the whole thing more interesting.

I'm just hoping that they accelerate the pace of the Twilight movies coming out; if they continue at a rate of 1 per year I'll be 38 by the time I've seen Breaking Dawn, which WOULD be cringeworthy !!!!

Oh yeah cupcake, read the books is a must!!!!!!! or if you want to cheat, you can find on youtube people who have uploaded the audio books. I do recommend that you read twilight before new moon. You don't have to, but you'll miss out on some character info and some of edward’s sense of humour that wasn't conveyed much in the film, more of the cullen's, a little insight into alice's human background, etc, etc.

Kitten: you might be in luck, from what I hear Eclipse will be (could be) coming out in June 2010 *fingers crossed*. They have to do the films quick though as all the actors are aging and being vampires, they’re not supposed too. I hope they do breaking dawn as a two parts.

Hey Kitten have you read midnight sun on SM website. Its edwards version of twilight - soooooooooooooo good, a must read for any twilight fan. You see it was meant to be a book, but she sent the pilot version to a few people and it go leaked Well as a result SM doesn't know when or 'if' it will get published, so she has put an Edward twilight version on her site (pdf format). It’s a nice 264 pages and I think it ends just up to or after the meadow scene. I got more excited reading that version then I did when I read twilight for the 1st time!!!!! so much more happens.

I have to admit the only gripe I have about the twilight saga is that there are a few questions from the series left unanswered. I don't want to say what they are as I don't want to post spoilers, but if you've read the books you properly know what I'm on about. My unwavering hope is this gives an opportunity for SM to carry on the series with other characters to have those few unanswered, answered (like a certain character in Breaking dawn and her 'special friend' *nudge, nudge, wink wink* Oh do I have those eyeshadows lol ). One can only hope .
