I was wondering if this was just me or other people were having the same problem. I got my package today and opened my stardust sample and poof it went everywhere. :( I was so sad. I don't mind not having sifters as much but I don't like how it gets in the crevices of the lid and then spills all over my clothes and then I have too much in the lid and have to try and loosen it to go back into the jar.....oh my. I just wish that the jar lids would fit so that the product doesn't get in the crevices of the lid. Does that make sense? lol Oh and Stardust is such a pretty color! I had about enough for 4 applications left in my jar so I will have to buy a full size soon it is a keeper!

I gotta say -- when I was a MMU newbie, I liked having samples in little jars. It was much less intimidating that way. But now, I GREATLY prefer having samples in little baggies. They're easier to store and organize. Since I use a swirly bowl anyway, it's also no big deal to tap a little bit out of the baggies. I do have to admit that I like the more environmentally-conscious aspect of sample baggies and the lower cost of the product and cost of shipping! I know there are probably lots of people who disagree with me... but this is something that does affect MY purchasing decisions, too...

(And I will say my absolutely least favorite packaging are the jars without sifters. It's like a disaster waiting to happen. A certain MMU company packages all eyeshadows without sifters and the first thing I do is transfer them into sifter jars. This makes me very frustrated, and I haven't purchased anything in a while in part for that reason.)

When Karen first mentioned that in order to keep prices down for us, the sample jars would be sent without sifters, i immediately removed the sifters out of one of my least loved pots and put it in my bag, just to see what would happen. Not good. Some of the powder leaks through the threads of the lid.

I think the eye shadows are packed in tiny ziplock baggies but the perfecting powders and blushers come in pots. I suspect it has to do with the amount of product -- A sample of eye shadow is not the same as a sample of pp/blush?

Personally, I buy a lot of sample sizes not just to try. Cuz with blushers, a sample size can go a long way, especially when I have over 20 (or is it 30?) of them. They're really handy to carry around in my small make up bag for touch-ups.

I would rather have the products all come in baggies than to have to deal with pots with no sifters (although that would make touch ups a bit more of a hassle -- tapping out product from baggies not as easy as tapping out from jars). After all, it doesn't help me to keep costs down if most of product I paid for leaks enroute or *poofs* into the air upon opening :)

I just keep thinking that the baggies are harder to use...I tend to do my makeup in the car while DH is driving, and I can't imagine trying to use a blush out of a bag. Right now we're still at least a week away from getting the 5-gram jars back in, and there isn't a whole lot I can do in the mean time. You do have to be a bit careful when you open them, but if I'm carrying around any jar of mineral I kind of have to be a bit careful not to spill. Traveling with any makeup is a bit difficult...if I had a nickel for the palettes I've dropped and broken yeesh. I still shudder about the $85 MAC MSF I dropped. Luckily I had ordered it for cloning purposes so it wasn't as bad, but I would have been heart broken otherwise.

That is true. Even with sifters in them, the minerals in my make up bag do get messy. So I've taken to putting cotton balls on top of the sifter to act as a stopper. It helps a lot.

I just received my latest order of goodies on Friday... which included samples of 2 of the new blushes. I had the same problem as mentioned above - that there was lots of product that had seeped into the grooves on the sides of the jar (like the lid doesn't seal properly) so when I opened the jar, the blush went everywhere. And this happened even though I had tapped the jars on the counter to settle the product (which I always do). I have gotten lots of samples from other companies in jars without sifters and this doesn't happen. I actually use sample size jars to store all of my products for daily use. I transfer colors out of full sized jars to the smaller ones, store the larger ones in the closet, and keep the small jars in my "tackle box o' makeup", so I have transferred several of the SN PPs and blushes to jars without sifters and have not had this problem - I think maybe it's just these jars? Just my two cents ;)

Oh, and the colors of everything were beautiful! I especially love the new lippies - Bloom, Precious, and Maiden - all are fantastic!!

I'm pretty sure the problem is just with these jars. I do love having samples in jars, but the new jars are so prone to getting all the product all trapped up the sides. I've tapped those out on a napkin and poured it back into the jar nad kept it upright, so there's not that much of a problem now, so I'm not too bothered :) Whatever keeps the costs down. Though I've noticed the blush sample sizes have gotten smaller as well a slightly more expensive :(

I am also bothered by the loss of product on the outside rim of the container. I don't have a solution but if a different jar would solve this, I would be all for it.

The white jars don't thrill me either- they were really a temporary stop-gap so that we didn't have to switch to bags while the 5-gram jars were out of stock. We just didn't have affordable jars, so I went with what we could get. Suppliers are running low/out of a lot of things- they ran down their stock over the winter, and now they're getting stuck without product. This week it's pure silk powder- so that's off the site for the moment. I *hate* running out of things.

We finally finally got our regular 5-gram jars in today, and we're switching to sifterless 5-gram jars with white lids- just like our regular 5-gram jars. The reason we're going without the sifters is cost- it saves quite a bit to skip the sifters. For an eye shadow- we're using them, but for samples we're going without.
