Newby, foundation help plse (pics)

Post by Shirin » Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:17 am

Hello Karen, hello ladies,

I am new here, I'm from Luxembourg. Karen, I finally managed to register, the problem was that I was using space between letters for the code.
I include a picture without make-up and flash, could you please help me find my foundation color! I have no idea whether I am olive, or peach, or buttery or warm tan?
Please also tell me which lippies, blushes, and eyeshadows would look good on me, I love light colors, I love rosy lippies, new to eyeshadows, don't use any usually, but want to give the neutrals like Bare, Whisper, and Nekid a try, hope those aren't too light for my skin?

Almosty forgot, what concealer works best for under my eye-circles?

Your help is deeply appreciated. SN looks very promising. Glad to ahve found it on time before ordering some other stuff.

Greetings from Luxembourg,
Shirin

Hi Shirin,

I do think the eyeshadows you have chosen will work well. For someone who has not worn much eyemakeup, lighter shades are a great place to start, and they will brighten up your eyes just by swiping them over your eyelids lash to brow. Honey or Posh would be a few others that will look more golden on your skin.

For foundation I think you will be a Warm Gold. I don't see much yellow, so the only other color you might need in the mix is Ebony, but you won't need much. I am guessing 1 scoop Warm Gold:1 scoop Ebony: 8-10 scoops Ivory. Maybe even a little less Ivory.

For Blushes and Lippies.......You will like Embrace, Babydoll, or Satisfied. Lippies try Breathless and Peace. Raindrops on Roses is another lovely rosy pink with some shimmer.

Thanks a lot Jen,

would have never thought of Ebony but looking at my pics it makes sense. I addaed the lippies and the blushes on my wish list. Satisfied looks like a lovely color, but does it have a lot of shimmer? I don't really like shimmer, I prefer make-up when natural.

So I actually don't have any green undertones? Was never sure whether I am an olive.

Can you please explain to me what kit i should oprder for foundation? If I order just the ebony and the warm tan does it come with the preparation kit?
Also I am not sure what coverage I should go for. I have slightly oily skin, and as you see I have some blemishes and acne, and dark under-eye circles. However I wonder whether the heavy coverage will be too thick? Maybe I use the medium coverage.

Thanks again for your help. It is really good to have some experts advice you. I am pretty good at doing make-up for women but when it comes to myself i have no idea what looks good on me.

Shirin,

I did just get the new Olive base in the mail today. I need about a day to look at it and play with it a little. By then I can either tell you it will be close, or totally rule it out for you. If you are anxious to order, I hope you can wait a day. At first glance, the Olive does look pretty good for you.

Satisfied does have some shimmer. Since you like natural looks, Maybe Baby and Embrace will be better blush choices for you.

Hi Shirin,

I did mix up some Olive today. I do think the Olive will be a good match for you, because I do not see much yellow in your skin. I think you will be in the 1 scoop color to 6-8 scoops Ivory. It does run a little deeper than our Warm Gold and Buttery Gold. For a concealer I think you should sample our Medium Concealer. For blushes, Maybe Baby will be the most natural look, and Flirt will add a little bit of a flush to your cheeks. Since you like a natural look, I think I will also recommend a few different colors of eyeshadow. The ones you have chosen are a little on the sparkley side. I think Posh instead of Bare, Sandy instead of Whisper, and Frills insead of Nekkid. Lippies: Breathless and Peace.

Thanks Jen, yes the sample of Olive Medium of Em seemed to look natural on me but it is too dark for me. Might be Olive Neutral.
But I am not going to order from them now, will try the SN foundation because I hope the silk will look fresher and not set into the lines.

I already put most of the stuff you suggested in my wishlist. I think gonna try Infatuation too, I am looking for a rose which is a tab bit on the blue side, hope Infatuation is not really purple or cool. I love 31 Waikiki from Chanel, it is the prefect rose color for me, a neutral rosy pink. Would be bgreat if Karen would clone it.

Wow it is snowing here, after the few sunny days we had. No real spring for us yet!

For blushes I will give tart a try as I like rosy colorful blushes, don't mind if it is dramaticin color as long as it does not have any sparkle or shimmer. I suspect Tart will not look natural on me though so will just get a sample. Would have loved something between babydoll and tart wo the shimmer.

What are the Glows like, Angel and Heavenly, shimmery, or you can't see any shimmer?

So I will add foundation now, but I have to wait until you arrange the olive as an item? I might also try mixing a tad of peach?

What coverage would you recommend for me? Would prefer more natural but I do have blemishes, gonna use the concealer you suggested though.

Regarding the eshadows glad you told me to change, I definitely wouldn't like any sprakle, for some reason on my features anything shimmery doesn't look flattering, maybe because i have small features? Wouldn't like completely matte eshadows eitehr trhouh, i though that would look "tired dull eyes".
Posh seems like my natural eyelid color, they are quite colored naturally. Sandy looks really nice!

Thanks again for your fast replies Jen.

We do currently have a sample of Olive Base. It was only on the NEW PRODUCTS page, but I have now linked it to the foundation samples. I will give you a link, too.

I think Medium Coverage Ivory is best for you. I also recommend Love Lure finishing powder if you decide to try those.

The glows are definitely more of a sheen rather than a sparkle. They will appear shimmery on your skin, but not glittery. Probably not an everyday item for you, but great for when you want a little highlighting on you cheekbones, etc.

Infatuation is definitely a blue toned rose. On some it does seem too purple for them. Lippies are hard to guess what they will look like on your lips. Yours are fairly pigmented and more in the brown range. That means you need more color for it to show. Mine are reddish, so Infatuation does show a hint of purple on me. I think you might love it. Another good one is Raindrops on Roses. It is very slightly warmer than Infatuation.

The eyeshadows I recommended still have some sheen to them. I used to love mattes myself, but I do find that my eyes look bigger with a subtle sheen. Sandy is my all time favorite, and Posh is a mush have for your coloring. Even thought you might think Posh won't show much, it will even out the tone of your eyes and make them brighter.

You will like Tart. I was hesitant to recommend that one because it looks so dramatic in the jar, but it is a good matte blush option for you. You would be surprised at the shimmer level in Babydoll. It is there, but not super noticeable. The shimmer in Satisfied is noticeable, but Babydoll is kind of in between matte and shimmer. It might be worth a sample. It will be a great color on you.

I really appreciate your accurate and extensive advice Jen. I have added also a sample of Love Lure. i am afraid raindrops on roses will be too red for my taste, i don't like red at all.

i have a big wishlist now ready to get sent out :-).

Just need to add the foundation. I saw the olive foundation, but how do i do for the full starte kit with olive, so i can get the sccop measurments and jars with it, does it still ahve to made available as such with the olive?
