What's this about serums?

Post by zeebs » Tue Mar 10, 2009 1:02 am

Just read Karen's blog - something about serums being next in line?

Request for green tea, aloe and *nothing too heavy* and *nothing too sticky*. Sensitive/oily-combination/acne prone. Find that Aubrey's Green Tea line works well for me but dislike how the mask separates, and I'd prefer to *not* have sunscreen as it clogs my pores.

Bath and Body Works used to have this Pumpkin mask that was soooo amazing. Pure Simplicity Pumpkin Mask. I don't know what was in it (but I might be able to locate an old jar upon request), but if you can come anywhere close, I will never ever buy another brand ever again.

I'm working on a few things...I made one with aloe, green tea, and tamarind seed extract today! Really simple, but it makes my skin feel really smooth. I like it, but I want to do a bit more local testing in the next few days.

Hmmm pumpkin mask- with the actual pumpkin fruit? I tried searching for it, and someone is selling 5 on eBay for $30 all together. As much as I would love to say no problem I'll make you one- that's a super deal, and I'm not sure I can preserve really foodie things effectively (it will take a few weeks/months to get them tested).

Okay, here's the ingredients list.

Aqueous infusion of: Pumpkin extract, pumpkin, butylene glycol, glycerin, triethanolamine, carbomer, total botanical pumpkin extract, rosemary leaf extract, apple extract, green tea leaf extract, lactobacillus/pumpkin fruit ferment extract, cinnamon cassia bark extract, ginger root powder, clove flower powder, nutmeg powder, cinnamon bark oil, cedarwood bark oil, nutmeg kernel oil, essential oils, phospholipids, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-8, disodium EDTA, EDTA, xanthan gum, ammonium polyacrylate, sodium benzoate, DMDM hydantoin, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, iron oxides, titanium dioxide.

Seriously the BEST product I have ever used on my face.

Hi- thanks for posting the ingredients. What's the mask supposed to do? I'm guessing their pumpkin extracts are some sort of special thing they made to go into the mask- but I know pumpkin is really good for skin.

I don't know what it's *supposed* to do, but here's what it does:

-dries out acne spots and takes down inflammation
-hydrates flaky dry patches
-feels like an enzyme exfoliation

HTH...

Aha- now I get it! I just found some very yummy stuff online...I can't promise anything, but face masks sound like a lot of fun. There's nothing that makes me feel girlier than sitting on the couch watching a chick flick wearing some sort of beauty mask. They're just fun!

Hehe, I'm not that brave, unless I'm alone. I usually do my masking along with a nice bath, and hide in the bathroom. Mine is usually green and I do look like the guy in Mask :D I sent some to my mom, and she was scaring my nephews with it, hehe.

I've even worn my masks outside before (not for long - maybe to grab the mail?). I'll put them on when friends are over. I'm so weird. But I love me a good mask.
