Oil Control Primer vs Silk Powder Primer

Post by pinkpomelo » Thu Nov 13, 2008 1:49 am

What's the difference?

Which one do you prefer and why?

I can't decide and need help.

If there's a post out there already with this information, then I apologize. I tried doing a search but came up with nothing relevant.

For me oil control for summer and silk for winter. I find the silk makes a big difference in helping my skin to get less flaky in the winter. I still use some oil control primer now if my skin is leaning to oily.

And both will give a nice "blurs pores like crazy" type finish? :D

I would aree with mgmsrk. I have not generally used the primers except for Perfecting Powder under my foundation. I would probably use the oil control in the warmer months, because that is when I am oiliest. I would use the silk powder in the colder months to keep my skin as hydrated as possible. I tend to dry out in the winter, but not in the summer. For the 'blurring pores like crazy', these primers will help. Also, the Perfecting Powders and Perfecting Glows will do a little blurring. Karen is also working on a product specifically designed for 'blurring pores' and it should be out soon.

That's very helpful!

I'll get the oil control primer. Living in Singapore -- its so humid and warm. I need all the oil control help I can get.

I'm waiting to see what goodies are in store for the Christmas season, then I'll order a whole bunch in one shipping.

I just used my samples to find the base colours for friends of mine and one of them is very excited to order -- as long as I do the mixing for him. Yes. Him. Its for his auditions. He wants to look his best. :D

Hi pinkpomelo - I live in Singapore, too. :) I've been using the Oil Control Primer under my Silk Naturals foundation and the Perfecting Powder on top for some months now. The Oil Control Primer really does help with, well, controlling oil, and the Perfecting Powder is a must-have for a finished, airbrushed look.

Hope that helps!

Yes, Spoonful, it helps. I am going to get the Oil-control powder.

I love the Perfecting Glow. I find that it just gives that nice "oomph" to my face.

I use Perfecting Powder first, then Perfecting Glow.
