Eye primer

Post by Danishwithasprinkle » Mon Oct 13, 2008 4:03 am

I would REALLY like a SN eye primer. I know the topic has been discussed earlier, but does anyone know whether or not an eye primer is coming?

I use my sample of the cream concealer that is not currently available as an eye primer. I'm not sure if there are plans for a release of the cream concealer/ a version of it or not. I do really like it as an eyeshadow primer though. I do hear things about it now and again so i think maybe the recipe just never got quite perfect?

A lot of people use the clear cream liner as an eyeshadow primer. I have not tried it as I have some irritation issues with one of the ingredients (i am allergic to soy and while i have had no problems with the lippies, my eyes couldn't handle the cream liners. My lids maybe could but i never tried) so I can't personally review it as an application medium. I can only say that i've heard great reviews on it for foiling.

I like to use the original Perfection Powder as a primer (after a very thin layer of light moisturizer). I've tried other brands of liquids, gels and creams, and found they were too sticky, not sticky enough, and just plain worth it. Some of them crept into my eyes and hurt like the dickens (ever get sunscreen in your eyes? Very similar). The PP gives a nice base to apply color to, especially if I want to go with a softer look. It also works for me UNDER the cream eyeliners. Since I don't apply it heavily, the base of PP is plenty to keep it looking good all day and helps it go on evenly. Lauren

I use the clear liner as a primer, too. It stays for several hours, but not all day. I set my e/s with perfecting powder, too. I agree that SN would be smart to develop an effective all-day e/s primer, but from what I understand it's difficult to do. (Keep trying!)

Hi all,

thanks for all your suggestions. I have tried the clear liner, face primer, two shadows and perfecting powder without any succes :-(. They prolong the wear with a few hours but it's not nearly enough.

I cross my fingers that SN will come up with an eye primer eventually.

I want one more than anyone...but yes, it has to be very very good, and I just haven't nailed it. I try a few things every once in a while, and come back to it when a new idea strikes. So far I've found literally about 150 ways to not make a primer. The hunt continues.

If I'm in a primer kind of mood- I picked up some Wet & Wild cream eye shadow that I wear under things sometimes- it's really not bad, and you can't beat the price.

I still like Origins Underwear for Lids the best of any I've tried.

Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the best I've tried for eyes. I can leave home in the morning, and get home 9-10 hrs later, and the shadow looks almost as it did in the morning. I can definitely tell the difference when I'm not using it. Works in clubs too where I tend to sweat more than at work at my desk ;) And yeah, I'm oily, so the rest of the face usually goes faster, althought primer (I use the Monistat chafing releif powder gel or Avon's Magix face perfector) and setting powder does help a bit. So, if Karen could come up with something like that miracle, that would be great!
