Eyeshadow for aging eyes

Post by Adelina » Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:26 pm

Hello, ladies! I am new to SN and would highly apprecite your advise. I am 40+, and my eyes are starting to look aged  I am looking for mineral eye shadow that would help to add just a little bit definition to visually deminish this disaster :D I need a crease shadow, taupy, most probably... Not glittery or too shimmery ones, I think they make all wrinkles pop out, absolutely matt shadows will not do either- they look too chalky. What I need is a cool taupy color with mild satin finish, or containing just a hint of shimmer so that to prevent from being too matt.
Have to say, that I have never used eye shadows before and my choice of color may be a total mistake, so I would be happy if you could share your experience and help to find the right color and texture in SN eye shadows to address this problem.
My skin is pale, light to neutral, I have nutbrown hair and dark brown eyes. And I wear glasses.
Many thanks)

Check out the MatteLights- Kind, and Driftwood. Those have a nice texture and a little bit of oomph without being over the top. The Suedes and Eyelights are also pretty user friendly. We make a few colors that aren't super flattering to mature skin (Sandy and Satin come to mind), but mostly I'm no spring chicken either so I tend to load 'em up with silica to blur everything.

Hi Adelina,

Even though this is my first post, I've been using SN for the past year. I've been lurking on the forum because I couldn't remember my password to register!

I think you should try Earth. It has this amazing depth to it and just a hint of sparkle. Personally I like it much better than Kind, which seems more grey toned and has more of a sheen.

Thak you, Karen! Driftwood seems to be fine for me, though, maybe too dark.Don't know... As for the other shades, I do not think i want to add color to the eyes, I just want to kind of recreate the used-to-be socket line, and the shade -at least how i feel it - should be slightly deeper than my natural skin tone. I tried a couple of light skin-toned shades (not SN), unfortunately, mature eyes look even more sallow with them, while darker shades placed where needed give a visual lifting effect ;)
Mairi, Earth was the first one to catch my eye, when i was trying to select from SN eyeshadows variety. Thanks a lot!
