more matte shadows

Post by puggerfly » Sat Jan 14, 2012 7:59 pm

I love that you have a selection of matte shadows. A girl (at least this girl) cannot live on sparkles alone! ;)

I'm especially dying to find an extremely dark teal. Evenly split between blue and green, and DARK - like teal's answer to navy - but still vibrant, not too greyed... and no sparkle, shimmer, pearl...na-da!
(Inglot's 340 is as close as I've seen: http://www.temptalia.com/images/summer2 ... tte021.jpg)

Actually, is there somewhere on the site that describes all the different SN eyeshadow finishes? For instance, how do Demi-Matte and Suede differ from regular Matte, and from each other? Shimmer vs Glimmer, etc?

Thanks!

I've been a lurker here for ages but when I saw your request for more mattes I had to register just to second your request. For some reason the shimmers don't work for me but the mattes make me look younger.

Karen, your matte shadows are awesome! I'd love to see more mid-tone colors for gray-green or gray-blue eyes, like Eu-Taupe-Ia and Terra.

I thought I was in the minority, but I'm glad it's not just me! I love the sparkly-pretties; I just can't wear them over my entire eye without looking older or "over-done".
And I second your request for mid-tones too. It sounds like we've got the same color peepers! :D

Yes, I can never figure out what color my eyes are! Gray-blue? Gray-green? They have a dark gray ring around the outside of the iris, with lighter blue-gray inside and amber flecks around the pupil. My eyes are deep set and a little small. What works best for me is Bristol or Restless on the lid, inner corner and under the brow bone, with a mid-tone for crease and contour. So far Eu-Taupe-La, Terra, Fern and Mink have worked best. (Mink's a shimmer but it doesn't look too shimmery. It also makes a great liner.)

Here's a suggestion, Karen: how about selling eyeshadow "Duo" sets? A lid/highlighter plus crease/contour color for a simple look. You could make them for specific eye colors and warm, cool and neutral skin tones.

I'd love a matte or sem-matte similar to MAC Quarry...similar to Eu-topia but with a tinge of plum or something I'm not quite sure of!

More Mattes please! Somehow shimmer ends up all over my face...no matter how much or little I apply. I agree, matte does make many woman look younger.

Another gal who can't do shimmer! Have you ladies tried the eye lights formula? I have Fusion and Hairpin. It doesn't look frosty/metallic like shimmer shadows do on me... But it manages to have the lit from within look just to add a little brightness to the area and since there's no shimmer, there's no fallout. Really gorgeous formula, it's my favorite <3. Just wanted to throw it out there :)

I'm weighting here in favor of matte too! Deep/dark (yet) bright matte e/s... that'd be awesome...

I give another vote for matte (but not flat) shadows. But I do like the radiant polished suede finish of Bailey, and the sophisticated pearly finish of Papyrus. Both of those eye shadows have a very silky feel and beautiful sheen for those who can't do shimmer. I think someone else on the forum mentioned that the suede eye shadows were great for aging lids. In that case I give a secret request for more suede and opaque-pearl finish eye shadows. But yeah..more matte please!

I'm not sure what the difference is between shimmer and glimmer. I have dark brown eyes that are small so one-wash brightening lid colors would be welcomed. I ordered Bone due to all the positive reviews I read.
