facial scrub and large pores

I never used facial scrubs in the past but usually exfoliated with a washcloth. This October I bought a face scrub from Lush and used it for about three months-very gently. When I ran out I just bought the SN microdermabrasion-I also use this very gently. I only use it once or twice and week and I love that it makes my skin really smooth. I have very large pores however and a couple of ice pic scars and I feel like lately my pores are looking larger and I've found more that are popping up . I always make sure that I go extremely gently but now I'm thinkng maybe I should stop using the manual exfoliaters and switch to chemical?

First I want to ask if you live in an area that experiences seasons.....

If it is winter where you are, the pore size is related to the hydration of the skin, and drier pores tend to look larger as the skin shrinks back instead of puffing (not sure my description makes sense, I could try again if this is confusing). I am pretty sure it is not manual exfoliation making them larger, but I could be wrong.

Still, wherever you are, BHA should be a good exfoliant to help clear the pores, and will probably to a better job than a manual exfoliator. It is probably worth a try.

Yes...I live in CT so my skin is always a bit more dry this time of year. However I just received my GT&A serum and use the Hemp moisturizer over it and that helps to hydrate. Maybe I'll try the BHA instead of the manual exfoliater and do you think I should combine it with the pore refiner toner?
