Advice for Colours Foundation and Makeup

Post by sephera » Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:27 am

Hi

I'm planning on putting an order in from Australia, I would like to order a batch of foundations, eye shadows, blush at once. I am a little lost on what to order with the myriad of foundation, finishing powers etc. Please recommend any colours, foundations, glows, finishing powder and concealer that would suit my skin colours. I have black hair and light to medium Olive skin with slight yellow with pink undertones. I do usually well with cool based colours for blush, lipstick and shadows. Warm colours look terrible on me. I am a Dark Winter in Sci Art system.

I do recommend a sample kit that has at least Ebony and Olive in it. In Olive, probably 1 Olive : 8-10 white. In Ebony, 1 Ebony : 3-4 white. There is a small scoop that comes in the kit, and you just measure level scoops by using the side of the bag.

The shopping cart is currently shut down due to the main office being on vacation until July 26th. I am also going to be away from the forum for several days.

I know you asked for other recommendations, and I won't get back to this until next week...

Finishing powder: Are there any issues you want to address like oily skin, and what kind of finish, matte, shimmery, somewhere in between.

Color products like blush and eyeshadow: Are you wanting a natural look or something a little birghter? What kinds of colors do you like and wear often? Even clothing colors will help.

Anyway, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for your help. I have combination skin, I need minimal oil control. I like to have a combination of matte and shimmery finish.

I usually wear black, navy, gray, blue. I throw on some colour in deep pink, magenta, deep turquoise. Usually deep cool jewel tones suit me.

I would like to get some makeup for both natural, nude on nude looks, and evening, colours that are fleshy and blend into the skin. Like Clinique colours, they have purples, golds, browns, greens, but they always look fleshy.
I have been wearing for eye shadow, purple, deep bronze, pale gold, pinks, taupes, some grey. It has to be cool toned.

Blushes, deep plum colours, and nude rose colours go well on me.

With the sample kit is the Ivory enough to try a few different foundation colours?

So what are the recommendations for primer, finishing power, concealer etc.

I am sorry that I did not get back to this sooner. You caught me just as I was leaving on vacation.

For primer, you should try Ultimate Sheer Zinc and Blur. You may even find you don't need the primer if you don't have issue with oil.

For concealer, try Lithg Peach for under eye. If you need a spot concealer, try your foundation mix with a brush that applies more heavily than a brush you would use on your face. A concealer brush or eyeshadow brush will do this. If you still don't get enough coverage, you could try mixing a heavier version of your foundation if a heavier white is available.

For color products, we do have color/finish filters on the website. In the left hand column if you click on lips, or face then blush, or eyes then eyeshadow, the filters will show up at the bottom of the left column. I can make a few recommendationos, but you might see something there that appeals more to you.

For lips, try Cultured, Fig Leaf, or Berry Nice for a plum, and Mirage for a nude.

Blush, Pretty Plum, Embrace, and Rosie.

Eyeshadow, Homecoming Queen, Earth, Vineyard. The possibilities are endless here. I really recommend trying out the filters, and I am sure there are several of us who can help you narrow down your choices if you can be specific in what you would like as far as color and finish.

Thanks,

I don't think I need primer in that case, cause I don't get much oil, I only perfecting powder and glow. With the perfecting powder should I go with Sheer or Date Bait?

I had my eye on the Carnal plum shade, would that be too deep for me even if I use a light hand?

In regards to eye shadows I'm after a dark browned taupe, and a mid tone grey taupe. Cream beige that is cool. A brown purple, and a cool pure grey. I mainly like shimmers.

I think for the eye shadows.

Nudge Nudge
Taupetastic
Aubergine
Homecoming Queen

Perfecting Powders: The Sheer will not be as pink and not quite as sheeny as Date Bait. I do think both would work well for you. It just depends on which you would prefer.

Sheer: translucent
Date Bate: slightly pink with a little more sheen

Carnal would be a great color of blush for you. It is a plum that leans to the purple side rather than pink.

The eyeshadows you chose are all great choices! Here are the first ones that come to my mind for your color descriptions, just for comparison.

a dark browned taupe-Taupetastic or Dark Arts
a mid tone grey taupe-Nudge Nudge or Slate
Cream beige that is cool-definitely Frenchie
A brown purple- Brimstone
cool pure grey- Alloy or Storm Cloud
