SK-II vs. Silk Naturals Skin Care

Post by McKinley » Sat May 28, 2011 3:48 am

Hello, All!

I was curious if anyone here has had any experience using SK-II skin care products, like the Facial Treatment Essence, for example. I really love using Silk Naturals serums and renovage creams--and I was curious how they stack up to more expensive brands. Does anyone have anything they can tell me about this? The Silk Naturals skin care products seem like a steal, like we should be paying way more for them, and I thought it would be interesting to confirm this idea!

Thanks for any comments you all care to make,
McKinley.

From a technical standpoint Renovage is Renovage- ours comes from the same factory as everyone else's. We just don't spend on advertising, or in-store displays, or sales people, or fancy packaging- so it brings the cost down quite a bit.

With skin care there really isn't a lot that's right or wrong- it's whatever works for you. There are so many different actives you can use that promise the same results that it's dizzying. I tend to search out the ingredients that deliver the most bang for the buck so that it makes them affordable.

Well, I don't think you can really compare SK II & SN in the same breath.

I've sampled and used FS of most of SN's range and I have used SK II's FTE, mask and have a couple of their foundations. SK II being Japanese has stuff that's mostly light in texture and with silicones. Their selling point is the pitera essence which is really fermented rice with a well, fragrance/stench depending on which camp you're in :P It's also marketed as a premium brand and while the items are pretty good and most do deliver results, they're too expensive for me to use on a regular basis.

SN's items are generally effective too and price-quality ratio is good.
Current SN foundation mix: 4 Buttery Gold: 2 Yellow Boosters: 21 Medium Ivory: 8 Original Ivory: 3 Glow
Favourite SN lippies (currently): Darling, Barcelona (Gumball), Menage
Favourite SN blushers: Carnal, Satisfied

Thank you so much for your replies! I have always LOVED every skin care item I've puchased from Silk Naturals, especially the serums. So I know I love them, and the price is more than right for me. I am sure I will continue buying them for as long as Karen makes them :o) Thanks for the insight on the SK-II as well.
