Lipbalm version #3

Post by egerandi » Mon Dec 13, 2010 4:26 pm

Love this one! I bought the pomegranate from the first holiday release and came back for more from the second release.
My favorite before this was the Tahitian Vanilla, but in my opinion this runs circles around it :)

It's smoother, more buttery and moisturizing when it goes on than the TV, but not as smooshy/crumbly as the Coconut (which I still like for the awesome scent and moisture).
I make sure my lips are hydrated (a little oatmeal serum goes a long way) but dried (as in not wet with water), and apply version #3 for all that it can offer.

Blueberry is the current fav, and I haven't tried the other flavors yet, but I just can't get away from this one :)
It feels the closest to black label/smooth and full, just with a little less staying power. I think this is a winner, for year-round use. Thumbs up!

I agree that this is a really grear formula! I was a version 1 fan for sure (Shirley Temple FTW!), but I really do like version 3 so far :) It is a very good compromise!

Tiramisu smells INCREDIBLE by the way!

Can't wait to get the Pomegranate & Chocolate Covered Cherry :) I love the Black label Smooth & Full.

Next to version #1 the new #3 is my favorite.

It´s creamy but not as waxy as version #2.

I could be happy with version #3 alone :)

My daughter is in love with the Bad Girl balm. Is there a balm that comes close to that one?

IIRC that one was the v.1 'Lip Lube' formula (along with White Choc Macadamia, Shirley Temple, Hot Chocolate, etc) which seem to be missing from the site now.

That's still my favourite version too because those had the taste, not just the scent. If balms are going to be named after flavoured things, especially foods, I'd like to taste them not just sniff them. :?

Testing out Pomegranate now.
Hmm, the texture is ok (but I still like the gloss from V1).
However, I can barely smell anything on my lipbalm, unlike Chocolate Covered Cherry (and no I don't have a cold). Maybe something that's very, very faintly sweet. I love pomegranates and drink it whenever I can (great antioxidant values) and who can resist the colour :)

Would like this better if the scent level went up a notch or 2.

Hmmmm, maybe I'm just very sensitive, but I don't know if I can take more than what the blueberry cheese cake already has. The scent of the other ones I bought seem rather strong too: pina colada, tiramisu and candy cane, although I have yet to 'taste' them, as I can't get enough of the blueberry.
I don't really remember the v1 scents, I only have the actual Lip Lube left, which is the unscented/unflavored one.

Edited to add: when I mean rather strong, I don't mean too much so, I just mean I my not be able to take more :)

I got the set of all the new V3 balms and their scents are pleasingly authentic, surprisingly so. My very small disappointment is that they only smell like the flavour, I'd prefer them to taste like the flavour. They seem flavourless to me. The scent is strong enough to enjoy the fragrance when I pop off the lip balm lid and that's lovely enough for that moment but I wish the balm would also taste the same (as the V1 balms did).

All that aside, the texture of the newest formula is excellent. I've given a few to people here and they've loved them. It's been unusually snowy, -15*C and very hard on the skin with seaside wind, the salt in the air and the hot air conditioning indoors. So far, the balm texture is more than enough to keep lips soft and supple.

I had the Tahitian Vanilla lip balm and although I don't recall how it applied on my lips I do recall that the scent was very, very faint. It was very close to an unscented lip balm to me.

I recently purchased the Candy Cane lip balm and I like the slip of it. It glides on really well, but again the scent is still faint. I do smell a faint candy cane scent but I wished it was stronger.

If the scent can be stronger it would be perfect!
