Sprite vs. Fire and Gold Blush vs. Gleaming

Post by Die Marchen » Fri Nov 26, 2010 11:53 am

Well lots of stuff was written, these 2 colors are brothers, cousins at least))) Maybe smn could swatch them along with some other colors like Boom or Whisper? These 2 are nice for me, though my favorite highlighter by far is Boom.

Also I am stuck between 2 lippies. I'm in a golden period))))
I cannot decide. Hope for your help))

P.S. I was choosing between Sizzle and Twister and made my choice by myself - Sizzle... So proud)))

Sorry, no swatch (can't find half my stuff since we moved), but I think the big difference between Sprite and Fire is the former is lighter in coverage and more ethereal, while Fire is a bit creamier, especially when it's applied on a base. Fire is also a morphing color: see pics on the site showing what it looks like when applied over a dark base.

Gleaming is a much thicker gold base while Gold Blush basically adds a bit of gold shimmer to your lips, very subtle. I use both for layering, and I like the consistency of GB better, but Gleaming will give a better transformation if you need to add gold to your colors, or to warm them up.

Thanks Andrea!

Now I understand what these things are, now I can't decide what I want more)))))))
I saw a swatch of Fire on the site but didn't understand what was it used on, what were the bases. I'm little afraid of coppers, gold looks better. I had a a golden lipstick by Mary Kay - it was great, I tried Copper but it was awful( I couldn't find a Sprite swatch...
I was also thinking about Precious... But I got an Unforgettable that is not that golden as I hoped so I think I'll layer it with some golds and as I run out of it I'll try Precious...
I wrote it and can't help laughing - when I get out of unforgettable I'll have a new obsession))))

Welllll... maybe you don't need to decide ;)
One more thing about Gold Blush vs Gleaming: GB has a tiny bit of color (doesn't really show up on me at all) while Gleaming is pure golden color and specks. Precious is comparable to GB, but a little more intense: on my lips it looks like a light peachy pink frost. It's not really gold, so if you like gold, get Gleaming for layering.

If coppers don't work for you, I suggest you go for either Sprite, or even Homecoming Queen or .... wait a second, what happened to Silence? That was Mac's Vanilla clone, but I guess you don't need yet another option, do ya :)

Sprite is gold and seriously makes me think of a tall glass of Sprite soda with a fairy sprinkling magic dust overhead. Fire is copper, but the idea is the same. Personally, I prefer sprite. I second Egerandi that homecoming queen is delightful as well.

I love me some golden lippies and lately i reach for gleaming. I like to use it to perk up lip stains or take a pink look to a peach look instantly. The big pro for it is that it looks good by itself and is great at morphing other colors (i use it over a pinky peach lipstain all the time). The con is that it is kind of easy to overdo it if you're not looking in a mirror (ie, it will "frost out" give you super gold lips if appied too thickly). Gold blush was one of my first favorite lippies and is still near and dear to my heart. As egerandi said, it's not a super noticeable lippie-more of a general lift to your look. It's very subtle but beautiful.

I would give you swatched, but i've been working really long days and am just not getting a camera out at 2am. I'm sure someone will get to it in a day or two, if not remind me in a few! lol.

Thank you, ladies!

I have Homecoming Queen - I got it as a color for cure, but I thought it is very similar to Boom and didn't open it. I wanted to present it and Bristol to my friend. I got a sample of it and didn't like it at all( it looks like Cream and Vanilla on me - too light and this whitish shine doesn't compliment me((( (Well I make orders even if previous didn't get to me, it takes a month for goodies to get to me, so I can run out of smth, order it and get a sample of it)

But... if I got it right Homecoming Queen is close to Sprite and it is not the same as Boom?
I have pigmented lips, many lippies tend to turn raspberry on them. Golds do not)))
I'm surely getting Gleaming, now I'm thinking about Precious/Gold Blush for an easy look))))

And do you think Sizzle will suit me?

no they're not the same other than both being gold highlighters. Sprite is very shimmery and sheer, homecoming is more of a satin shimmer which means that base antique lace color shows whereas the base white in sprite mostly just blends in. I have fair yellow toned skin so really all creams tend to blend in on me.

Sizzle is very cool in that it's a blue with gold that ends up looking green. The overall effect isn't really gold perse if you're looking for gold eyeshadow, but it does have a nice gold sheen.

Thanks, Xarata! It becomes more and more clear)))

I love teals with gold, Hero and Regent are ok, but not wow on me. I liked Sizzle description - it is said it is great for hazel green eyes)

I am quite fair and yellow) It seems I am to change my ratio - to add more white.
And the last question - are Homecoming Queen and Boom different enough? Do you have Boom? Do you like it?)

Just to throw another option into the mix, how about Sonic? ;)

Sizzle is awesome. You'll love it!

LOL!!! I thought I was the only one this happened too!! I've looked in the mirror after applying 2 times in a few hours and have a layer of crunchy frost/sparkle on my lips. This is the only solid SN I've had this problem w/. Applied once thinly it is very nice though.

Gold Blush doesn't show up much on my pigmeneted lips, but I still really like it. It's just a slight wash of pink w/ chunky gold shimmer. Very natural, can easily apply w/o a mirror and apply several layers. It is more like a slightly tinted lipbalm.
