Argan Oil

Post by Xarata » Mon Oct 25, 2010 7:52 pm

Would love to see some products with this. At 24, my skin has hit the "in-between" stage. I didn't get acne in high school, so i get random acne now, and while i'm not wrinkled, my laugh lines are starting to linger. My skin is happiest to be mostly left alone, but the tone is more even when it has some kind of a skin system. I currently use an aloe based toner from another company (but would switch back to the pH balanced toner in a heartbeat), rose serum, and argan oil to hydrate. All other moisturizers seem to disagree in some way with my skin- harshing the precarious balance. It absorbs quickly, leaves no residue, and is supposed to do amazing things for skin, hair, and nails. Would be particularly interested in something with both argan oil and aloe leaf juice

I second this! I've been wanting to try an Argan oil moistrurizer, one with aloe would be even better!

I've been using the *Proclaim*(Sally's Beauty) line of Argan Treatment Oil in my hair for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I know it's not *pure* argan oil(it has some 'cones' in it) but my hair seems to really, really like it. I put about a nickels worth in my damp hair before blowdrying, and it comes out reallly soft and sleek and shiny. My hair is very dry and thick and color treated, and this has made a huge difference.
Would love to see some argan oil products.

I am using just 100% Argan oil on my hair. It works very well. I can put a few drops on my dry hair and it sinks right in. Most commerical (or "common") products contains silicones and I feel those build up.

I also have just 100% squalane. This is a great product to be used OVER treatment products (retinol, AHA, etc) as it helps the product penetrate.

Sometimes simple products work well.

Hmm, I must be doing something wrong :(
I'm using pure argan oil, and use about a dime size (like maybe 5 drops I think), rub it into wet hair, then let it sit a bit and blow dry (with some other product I use all the time).
I end up with hair that looks like haven't been washed for two days. What the... I have hair past my shoulder, colored but thin, so maybe I should try one or two drops? Would that even do anything? I remember trying argan before because I heard raves about it, and now I remember why I stopped. Bummer.

I have this same problem with most hair oil treatments... My hair is thin, darker, and I have to wash it frequently because it (and my face) tend to be oily. I think the problem is that you rub it into your hair and THEN blow dry. The action of blow drying is spreading it through your hair, getting it towards the root. Normally our hair gets plenty of oil near the root, the hair that needs the oil is the length of it! So, try using it after you dry your hair...rub just a few drops between your palms really well, then smooth it through the tips working up the length a bit. That will keep it away from the front and roots of your hair, unless you fiddle with your hair all day like I do. Yes, even a few drops will have benefit if well dispersed! Most days if I want to use oil in my hair I use it in the evening and sleep in it. ;)

Oh, that's a good idea, I'll try that next, thanks! I'll do it when it's not very important that my hair doesn't look silly, experiment :)

I mix 2-3 drops of pure argan oil in GOW's water-based hair serum. No nasty silicones!
