I'll try these tips! I don't have a swirly bowl just the lid from my EDM bases. Sometimes I feel like the brush is a little big for the lid and I maybe load the brush to heavily. I'll have to look into a swirly bowl. I also used some castor oil on my face today because I've heard it's good for cleansing the face. I don't have another oil to mix with it but it's a start!JenW wrote:1. It could be the mixing, and it could also still be a little dark. It may need a little more white in the mix, and you may want to try mixing it in a baggie (snack size if you have one......'mooshing' helps. Also, do you use a swirly bowl? This will help load the brush more evenly, and still blends the powders a little more before you apply.)cristy_amk wrote: I do have another question....I am still working to get my right color of base. I just mixed up Olive and White last night and will try it on a fresh face this morning.. One thing I'm noticing though, I have slight pitting in my cheeks, and last night when I was experimenting with colors I appeared to have blackish colored spots in those pits. I THINK it's either my base or blush. I'm thinking I'm either (1) not blending the base enough in the pot and am getting random bursts of heavy color pigments in my mix that are settling in those pits (2) I'm not buffing my base well enough on my face. I used EDM brushes and after reading some posts I've seen it mentioned that they "eat" base and maybe I'm getting too much product, it's then settling in my pores and maybe oxidizing? (does that make sense???), (3) because I'm still working on a moisturizing routine maybe I'm not giving my makeup the best pallet so it's settling in and again oxidizing TIA for any help or answers!!!!
2. Your brush should work fine. I know there are many who prefer the brushes Karen sells, but the quality on the brush you own is good.
3. A good moisturizing routine is definitely important. Oils do tend to turn any mineral makeup just a little darker.

When you say her face is very red....do you mean it looks flushed? Or do you mean it is just redder toned than yours?Kanerou wrote:My mother seems kind of peachy, but it's hard to determine her coloring. Olive didn't seem to work on her, but I may check again. I have a mix going right now of the gumball base at 14 scoops, 1 Olive, and 1/2 of a scoop each of Yellow and Green. I think it is too dark right now, but I think that like, 2 more scoops of Ivory may remedy that and possibly a little more Yellow. I'm pretty excited by this batch, though, it was that perfect almond-y shade I needed right on the first try! Or, almost perfect
A little more tweaking...
Thanks again for the help, Jen!
P.S. Karen, I am really excited by this foundation. I've only been wearing, for well, the afternoon, but my dry skin had seriously given up on mineral base. I'm getting the coverage a liquid base provides me with new foundation. Very exciting! I love the finish too.

Hey, I plan on ordering 2 refill baggies of Heavy Ivory. But I'm wondering...
My base is Ebony, no doubt about that. Is there any way I could order Dark Ebony? If I just mixed more Ivory in, I could save the dark ebony, which will also save money. Is Ebony exactly the same as Dark Ebony in the way that instead of mixing 1 Ebony to 8 Ivory I could mix 1 Dark Ebony to 16 Ivory?
I know it sounds crazy and probably just plain easier if I were to order Ebony,
but I'm just curious, and that way I could order more at one time instead of making many small orders all the time.
Also, I'm fair with neutral/very slight pink undertones
Can you help me out? Thanks!

Yes, Deep Ebony is a darker version of Ebony. I can't say for sure if your ratio will work out to be exactly half, though. I would try a sample just to be sure. Sometimes it is a little trickier to lighten a darker powder that much and get it mixed well.

Alright, thanks Jen! I think I'll just stick to the regular ebony, which should be fine. :3
By the way, how heavy is the heavy coverage compared to the intensive formula from everydayminerals?
If you don't know, that's fine. I'm just looking forward to finding something I can use without having to conceal blemishes first.

I am not a good one to ask on the comparison. Back in my EDM days, I wore semi-matte or OG.

You may have to try something like Unblush if you can't pinpoint what causes the flushing of the skin. If her skintone is not olive based, adding a little green booster to the foundation will help, as long as the tint is slight.Kanerou wrote: It looks flushed.

Dear JenW!
I really hope for your help as my summer foundation that was a mix of everything I had in order not to waste a single drop of minerals is too dark and pink for autumn-winter months. I have very yellow shoulders, green neck and my face looks white compared to them. I have reddness around my nose and on cheeks.
Here I post my nude and made up pic that show my colors quite close. But I'm more yellow in the flesh.
I hope to listen to a fresh view advice))) Thanks in advance.
