I think Olive at about 1 scoop color to about 12-15 white. I don't see the rough texture in the picture. Is it a pore issue, a dry skin issue? Both cases require more hydration for the skin. If the skin is dehydrated, primers will tend to dry it out more.cristy_amk wrote:Ok, I'm embarrassed to post this but need some advice on base color. I'm pale but if I go too light I look totally washed out. I also have a very "rough" texture to my skin. If any has product suggestions for that too would appreciate.

Re: Can I know my tone?
You will be an Olive or Buttery Gold. Olive 1 scoop color to about 12 white....in Buttery Gold 1 scoop color to about 8 white.enticx wrote:Hey can I know what is my undertones? I just bought the sample set, haven't got it, but would like to know how to mix.
Sometimes my face looks pink, sometimes yellow.. so i'm not sure!
I use mac face and body in C2, and for my undereyes i use mac nw15-20
I don't think you have pink undertones. They are slight yellow and olive.

Thank you! I will try the Olive. When you refer to the ratio of White are you referring to Medium Coverage? My rough skin is from acne scars and pitting. I feel like I have an old look to my skin. I'd actually like to go to a dermatologist to look into my options for fixing this. I'm 34 years old and feel like I've had this same skin for as long as I can remember and would love to improve it!!!!JenW wrote:I think Olive at about 1 scoop color to about 12-15 white. Medium Coverage will be very close to that ratio.....it is always best to start with one less than I recommend if you are using a heavier coverage. It is much easier to add a scoop of white than take it away.cristy_amk wrote:Thank you! I will try the Olive. When you refer to the ratio of White are you referring to Medium Coverage? As for the texture.....do you exfoliate? You might be a good candidate for AHA Toner.

I actually have it in my Wishlist. I exfoliate but don't gave a good regime. I tend to exfoliate and then am so afraid to use moisturizer afterwards that I sometimes skip it for fear I'll break out

Cristy--I have quite oily skin with some acne scarring and large pores, it wasn't 'til I was on this forum that I realized half the oil problem was because my skin is dehydrated! My favorite SN products for hydration are the Green Tea & Aloe serum (very light, doesn't break me out, and I have pretty sensitive skin) as well as the Firming Moisturizer in the winter time because it make my skin feel so plump and smooth! I usually stick with just the serum in the summer, then add the moisturizer in as the weather turns cool and the heater dries out my skin.cristy_amk wrote:I also have a very "rough" texture to my skin. Also, the microdermabrasion cream...

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Thanks for all of your suggestions! I used to follow the OCM (actually I think that pic is from that time and maybe that's why my skin doesn't look as "rough" in that pic!!!!) I stopped for a silly reason. I used Coconut Oil and when I ran out I just kept saying I couldn't afford it (yes I am paycheck to paycheck), so I stopped. Well, then at the time I was using EDM and they did a formula change and suddenly their base wasn't working as well for me so I was struggling with my base, out of my oil, and worried to death that the new EDM formula would start breaking me out...this is coming from a girl who had pretty moderate acne from middle school to high school and beyond so anytime I even think about breaking out again I go into a panic!
I already have some SN scrubs and serums in my Wishlist and am looking forward to trying them (today is payday too!!!). I can't wait!!!!
I do have another question....I am still working to get my right color of base. I just mixed up Olive and White last night and will try it on a fresh face this morning.. One thing I'm noticing though, I have slight pitting in my cheeks, and last night when I was experimenting with colors I appeared to have blackish colored spots in those pits. I THINK it's either my base or blush. I'm thinking I'm either (1) not blending the base enough in the pot and am getting random bursts of heavy color pigments in my mix that are settling in those pits (2) I'm not buffing my base well enough on my face. I used EDM brushes and after reading some posts I've seen it mentioned that they "eat" base and maybe I'm getting too much product, it's then settling in my pores and maybe oxidizing? (does that make sense???), (3) because I'm still working on a moisturizing routine maybe I'm not giving my makeup the best pallet so it's settling in and again oxidizing TIA for any help or answers!!!!

1. It could be the mixing, and it could also still be a little dark. It may need a little more white in the mix, and you may want to try mixing it in a baggie (snack size if you have one......'mooshing' helps. Also, do you use a swirly bowl? This will help load the brush more evenly, and still blends the powders a little more before you apply.)cristy_amk wrote: I do have another question....I am still working to get my right color of base. 2. Your brush should work fine. I know there are many who prefer the brushes Karen sells, but the quality on the brush you own is good.
3. A good moisturizing routine is definitely important. Oils do tend to turn any mineral makeup just a little darker.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Thanks for your help with my foundation! I'm using Buttery Yellow/Green Corrector.
My mother seems kind of peachy, but it's hard to determine her coloring. Olive didn't seem to work on her, but I may check again. The thing is, her face is very red. My understanding is that I should mix some green into the foundation to counteract this. My question is: do I match her neck and then mix the green in?
